THEFT DETERRENT SYSTEM Engine Hood Courtesy Switch Circuit

DESCRIPTION

The hood courtesy switch is installed together with the hood lock assembly. This switch turns on when the hood is closed and turns off when the hood is opened.

PROCEDURE


  1. READ VALUE USING GTS (HOOD COURTESY SW)


    1. Connect the GTS to the DLC3.

    2. Turn the engine switch on (IG).

    3. Turn the GTS on.

    4. Enter the following menus: Body Electrical / Main Body / Data List.

    5. Read the Data List according to the display on the GTS.

      ON: Hood open

      OFF: Hood closed

  2. INSPECT HOOD COURTESY SWITCH ( HOOD LOCK ASSEMBLY)


    1. Remove the hood lock assembly.

      Click here

    2. Inspect the hood courtesy switch (hood lock assembly).

  3. CHECK HARNESS AND CONNECTOR (HOOD COURTESY SWITCH (HOOD LOCK ASSEMBLY) - COWL SIDE JUNCTION BLOCK LH)


    1. Disconnect the B4 hood courtesy switch (hood lock assembly) connector.

    2. Disconnect the 5D cowl side junction block LH connector.

    3. Measure the resistance according to the value(s) in the table below.

      Standard Resistance
      Tester Connection Condition Specified Condition
      B4-1 - 5D-28 Always Below 1 Ω
      B4-2 - Body ground Always Below 1 Ω
      B4-1 or 5D-28 - Body ground Always 10 kΩ or higher

    REPAIR OR REPLACE HARNESS OR CONNECTOR

  4. INSPECT COWL SIDE JUNCTION BLOCK LH


    1. Remove the main body ECU (multiplex network body ECU).
