LIN COMMUNICATION SYSTEM Rain Sensor LIN Communication Malfunction

DESCRIPTION

A malfunction occurs in LIN communication of the components related to the rain sensor between the rain sensor and windshield wiper relay assembly.

Inspect the fuses for circuits related to this system before performing the following inspection procedure.

PROCEDURE


  1. CHECK HARNESS AND CONNECTOR (RAIN SENSOR - WINDSHIELD WIPER RELAY ASSEMBLY)


    1. Disconnect the K29 windshield wiper switch assembly connector.

    2. Disconnect the W5 rain sensor connector.

    3. Measure the resistance according to the value(s) in the table below.

      Standard Resistance
      Tester Connection Condition Specified Condition
      K29-8 (MPX1) - W5-1 (MPX) Always Below 1 Ω
      K29-8 (MPX1) - Body ground Always 10 kΩ or higher

  2. CHECK WINDSHIELD WIPER SWITCH ASSEMBLY (WINDSHIELD WIPER SWITCH ASSEMBLY - BATTERY AND BODY GROUND)

    1. Disconnect the windshield wiper switch assembly connector.

    2. Measure the resistance according to the value(s) in the table below.

      Standard Resistance
      Tester Connection Condition Specified Condition
      K29-7 (E) - Body ground Always Below 1 Ω
    3. Measure the voltage according to the value(s) in the table below.

      Standard Voltage
      Tester Connection Switch Condition Specified Condition
      K29-2 (+B) - Body ground Engine switch on (IG) 11 to 14 V

  3. CHECK WINDSHIELD WIPER SWITCH ASSEMBLY


    1. Temporarily replace the windshield wiper switch assembly with a new or normally functioning one.
