AUTOMATIC TRANSMISSION SYSTEM, Diagnostic DTC:P2714

DTC Code DTC Name
P2714 Pressure Control Solenoid "D" Performance (Shift Solenoid Valve SLT)

DESCRIPTION

Based on signals from the accelerator position sensor and transmission revolution sensors (NC3, SP2 and NT), the TCM controls the solenoid valve (SLT) using a predetermined duty ratio*. As a result, the line pressure is adjusted to a pressure that is appropriate for the throttle angle and engine output. Based on the rotation speed signals from the transmission revolution sensors (NT, NC3 and SP2), the TCM calculates the heat level of the friction material, and detects clutch slippage, etc.

Tech Tips

*: The duty ratio is the ratio of the current ON time (A) to the total of the current ON and OFF time (A + B).

Duty Ratio (%) = A / (A + B) x 100

P2714 Pressure Control Solenoid "D" Performance (Shift Solenoid Valve SLT)

All of the following conditions are met (2 trip detection logic)

  • Engine coolant temperature is 40°C (104°F) or more

  • ATF temperature is -10°C (14°F) or more

  • The vehicle is driven with the shift lever in D

  • No malfunctions are detected in shift solenoid valve SL1, 2, 3, 4 and 5, SR, transmission revolution sensors (NT, SP2), water temperature sensor, oil temperature sensor, knock control sensor, electronic throttle, or CAN

  • The engine overruns at engine torque that is above each gear's set engine torque. The clutch is judged to be slipping, and friction material is overheated beyond a specified threshold.

  • Shift solenoid valve SL1

  • Shift solenoid valve SL2

  • Shift solenoid valve SL3

  • Shift solenoid valve SL4

  • Shift solenoid valve SL5

  • Shift solenoid valve SLT

  • Valve body assembly

  • Automatic transmission assembly

Comes on DTC stored

MONITOR DESCRIPTION

The TCM calculates the amount of heat absorbed by the friction material based on the difference in revolution speed (clutch slippage) between the turbine and output shaft. The TCM illuminates the MIL and stores this DTC when the amount of heat absorption exceeds the specified value.

When the shift solenoid valve SLT remains ON, oil pressure goes down and clutch engagement force decreases.

Note

If driving continues under these conditions, the clutches will burn out and the vehicle will no longer be drivable.

CAUTION / NOTICE / HINT

Note

Perform registration and/or initialization when parts related to the automatic transmission are replaced.

Tech Tips

After the repair, clear the DTCs and perform the following procedure to check that DTCs are not output.

  1. Perform the D Position Shift Test in Road Test.

  2. Turn the engine switch off.

  3. Perform step (1) again.

  4. Check for DTCs again.

PROCEDURE

  1. CHECK DTC OUTPUT

    1. Connect the GTS to the DLC3.

    2. Turn the engine switch on (IG).

    3. Turn the GTS on.

    4. Enter the following menus: Powertrain / ECT / Trouble Codes.

Powertrain > ECT > Trouble Codes
    5. Read the DTCs using the GTS.
