PARK / NEUTRAL POSITION SWITCH ON-VEHICLE INSPECTION

PROCEDURE

1. INSPECT PARK/NEUTRAL POSITION SWITCH OPERATION

   
   

   1. Fully apply the parking brake and chock all 4 wheels.

   2. Turn the engine switch on (IG).

   3. Depress the brake pedal and check that the engine starts when the shift lever is in N or P, but does not start in any other position.

   4. Check that the back-up light comes on when the shift lever is moved to R, but does not come on in any other position.

      If the operation is not as specified, check the park/neutral position switch for continuity.
