DESCRIPTION
When the driving support ECU assembly receives parking brake operation signals from the electric parking brake ECU via the CAN communication line, the vehicle following function is canceled.
When the driving support ECU assembly receives an electric parking brake system malfunction signal from the parking brake ECU assembly via CAN communication, DTC C1A51 is stored.

Note
When replacing the driving support ECU assembly, always replace it with a new one. If a driving support ECU assembly which was installed to another vehicle is used, the information stored in the driving support ECU assembly will not match the information from the vehicle. As a result, a DTC may be stored.
First check the CAN communication system by following How to Proceed with Troubleshooting. After checking that there are no malfunctions in the CAN communication system, proceed with troubleshooting.

Check for DTCs.

Clear the DTCs.
Make sure that the DTC detection conditions are met.
Tech Tips
If the detection conditions are not met, the system cannot detect the malfunction.
Turn the engine switch on (IG).
Wait for 1 second or more.
Check for DTCs.
