TCM REMOVAL

The necessary procedures (adjustment, calibration, initialization, or registration) that must be performed after parts are removed, installed, or replaced during the TCM removal/installation are shown below.

Replacement of TCM

(If possible, read the transmission compensation code from the previous TCM)

PROCEDURE


  1. PRECAUTION

    Note

    After turning the engine switch off, waiting time may be required before disconnecting the cable from the negative (-) battery terminal. Therefore, make sure to read the disconnecting the cable from the negative (-) battery terminal notices before proceeding with work.

  2. DISCONNECT CABLE FROM NEGATIVE BATTERY TERMINAL

    Note

    When disconnecting the cable, some systems need to be initialized after the cable is reconnected.

  3. REMOVE COOL AIR INTAKE DUCT SEAL

  4. REMOVE ENGINE ROOM ECU COVER

  5. REMOVE TCM

      *1 Junction Connector

      Disconnect the engine wire harness connector (A) as shown in the illustration.

    2. Disconnect the engine wire harness connector (B).

    3. Disconnect the engine wire harness connector (C).

    4. Disengage the claw to disconnect the junction connector from the connector holder.

      *1 Grommet
      *2 Connector Holder

      Disconnect the grommet from the engine room ECM box.

    6. Using a screwdriver, disengage the claw.

    7. Disengage the guide to disconnect the connector holder from the engine room ECM box.

      Disconnect the 2 ECM connectors.

      Note

      After disconnecting the ECM connectors, make sure that dirt, water or other foreign matter does not contact the connecting parts of the ECM connectors.

      Disconnect the 2 TCM connectors.

      Remove the 2 nuts and TCM from the engine room ECM box.

      Note

      If the TCM has been struck or dropped, replace it.

      Remove the 4 screws and 2 brackets from the TCM.
