ELECTRIC PARKING BRAKE SYSTEM, Diagnostic DTC:C13A4/32, C13AC/34

DTC Code DTC Name
C13A4/32 Open or Short in Release Switch Circuit
C13AC/34 Release Switch Circuit

DESCRIPTION

When the electric parking brake switch (electric parking brake switch assembly) is pushed to the release side, a release request signal is sent to the parking brake ECU assembly.

DTC No. Detection Item DTC Detection Condition Trouble Area Memory Note
C13A4/32 Open or Short in Release Switch Circuit

All of following conditions are met:

  1. Power switch on (IG) or electric parking brake switch (electric parking brake switch assembly) pushed to release side with power switch off.

  2. Terminal REL1 voltage is less than 1.5 V* or more than 9.4 V*; or terminal REL2 voltage is less than 1.5 V* or more than 9.4 V*

  3. Problem occurs for approximately 1 second.

Tech Tips

*: When auxiliary battery voltage is 12 V

  • Electric parking brake switch (electric parking brake switch assembly)

  • Wire harness or connector

  • Parking brake ECU assembly

DTC stored An electric parking brake system malfunction is displayed on the multi-information display.
C13AC/34 Release Switch Circuit

Both of following conditions are met:

  1. Power switch on (IG) or electric parking brake switch (electric parking brake switch assembly) pushed to release side with power switch off.

  2. ON/OFF judgment of release switch 1 and release switch 2 does not match for approximately 1 second.

CAUTION / NOTICE / HINT

Note

  • The electric parking brake may still operate up to 20 seconds after the power switch is turned off. Before disconnecting connectors or fuses, turn the power switch off and wait 20 seconds or more.

  • When the electric parking brake switch (electric parking brake switch assembly) is not fully pushed and held to the release side for 1 second or more, only 1 of 2 internal contacts may contact causing a DTC to be stored. This is not a malfunction.

  • When replacing the parking brake ECU assembly, operate the electric parking brake switch (electric parking brake switch assembly), as the parking brake indicator light (red) blinks when the power switch is first turned on (IG).
