| DTC Code | DTC Name |
|---|---|
| P26819C | Engine Coolant Bypass Valve Low / Insufficient Flow |
DESCRIPTION
Refer to DTC P268111.
| DTC No. | Detection Item | DTC Detection Condition | Trouble Area | MIL | Memory | Note |
|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|
| P26819C | Engine Coolant Bypass Valve Low / Insufficient Flow | The actual increase in engine coolant temperature is less than calculated based on the intake air volume (2 trip detection logic). |
|
Does not come on | DTC stored | SAE Code: P26A3 |
MONITOR DESCRIPTION
If the actual increase in engine coolant temperature is less than calculated based on the total intake air volume since the engine started, the ECM will judge that the flow shutting valve (water valve) is clogged and store this DTC.
CONFIRMATION DRIVING PATTERN
Tech Tips
Make sure to perform this procedure when the ambient temperature is 5°C (41°F) or more, the engine coolant temperature between 5 and 40°C (41 and 104°F), and the difference between the engine coolant temperature and ambient temperature is within 10°C (18°F).
Connect the GTS to the DLC3.
Turn the power switch on (IG).
Turn the GTS on.
Clear the DTCs (even if no DTCs are stored, perform the clear DTC procedure).
Turn the power switch off and wait for at least 30 seconds.
Turn the power switch on (IG).
Turn the GTS on.
Put the engine in Inspection Mode (Maintenance Mode).
Enter the following menus: Powertrain / Engine / Data List / Coolant Water Route Switching Valve.
Start the engine with A/C switch and all other accessories off, release the accelerator pedal and check that the value of Data List item Engine Coolant Valve is "Closed".
Idle the engine for 2 minutes or more.
Enter the following menus: Powertrain / Engine / Trouble Codes.
Read the pending DTCs.
Tech Tips
If a pending DTC is output, the system is malfunctioning.
If a pending DTC is not output, perform the following procedure.
Enter the following menus: Powertrain / Engine / Utility / All Readiness.
Input the DTC: P26819C.
Check the DTC judgment result.
| GTS Display | Description |
|---|---|
| NORMAL |
|
| ABNORMAL |
|
| INCOMPLETE |
|
| N/A |
|
Tech Tips
If the judgment result is NORMAL, the system is normal.
If the judgment result is ABNORMAL, the system is malfunctioning.
If the judgment result is INCOMPLETE or N/A, perform the Confirmation Driving Pattern and check the DTC judgment result again.
CAUTION / NOTICE / HINT
Tech Tips
When replacing any cooling system (for Engine) parts, if excessive deposits of rust or scale exist or the concentration of the engine coolant is abnormal, replace the engine coolant.
Read freeze frame data using the GTS. The ECM records vehicle and driving condition information as freeze frame data the moment a DTC is stored. When troubleshooting, freeze frame data can help determine if the vehicle was moving or stationary, if the engine was warmed up or not, if the air fuel ratio was lean or rich, and other data from the time the malfunction occurred.
PROCEDURE
CHECK ANY OTHER DTCS OUTPUT (IN ADDITION TO DTC P26819C)
Connect the GTS to the DLC3.
Turn the power switch on (IG).
Turn the GTS on.
Enter the following menus: Powertrain / Engine / Trouble Codes.
Read the DTCs.

Tech Tips
If DTC P268172 and P26819C are output simultaneously, perform troubleshooting for DTC P26819C first.
If DTC P268173 and P26819C are output simultaneously, perform troubleshooting for DTC P268173 first.
If any DTCs other than DTC P268172, P268173 or P26819C are output, perform troubleshooting for those DTCs first.
