AUTOMATIC TRANSAXLE SYSTEM DTC CHECK / CLEAR

Note

When the diagnosis system is changed from normal mode to check mode or vice versa, all DTCs and freeze frame data recorded in normal mode are cleared. Before changing modes, always check and make a note of DTCs and freeze frame data.

Tech Tips


  • DTCs which are stored in the ECM can be displayed on the GTS. The GTS can display the confirmed and pending DTCs.

  • Some DTCs are not stored if the ECM does not detect the same malfunction again during a consecutive driving cycle. However, such malfunctions, detected during only one driving cycle, are stored as pending DTCs.


  1. CHECK DTC (Using GTS)


    1. Connect the GTS to the DLC3.

    2. Turn the engine switch on (IG).

    3. Turn the GTS on.

    4. Enter the following menus: Powertrain / Transmission / Trouble Codes.

    5. Check for DTC(s) and freeze frame data, and write them down.

      GTS Display Description
      Test Failed Shows the malfunction judgment results during the current trip.
      Pending Shows the malfunction judgment results up to now. (Indicates the possibility of a malfunction when no DTC is confirmed.)
      Confirmed Shows the DTCs confirmed up to now. (The number of current trips differs for each DTC.)

  2. CLEAR DTC (Using GTS)


    1. Connect the GTS to the DLC3.

    2. Turn the engine switch on (IG).

    3. Turn the GTS on.

    4. Enter the following menus: Powertrain / Transmission / Trouble Codes.

    5. Clear the DTCs.

  3. CLEAR DTC (without Using GTS)

    Note

    After turning the engine switch off, waiting time may be required before disconnecting the cable from the negative (-) battery terminal. Therefore, make sure to read the disconnecting the cable from the negative (-) battery terminal notices before proceeding with work Click here.


    1. Perform either of the following operations.


      • Disconnect the cable from the negative (-) battery terminal for more than 1 minute.

      • Remove the EFI NO. 1 and ETCS fuses from the engine room relay block and junction block assembly located inside the engine compartment for more than 1 minute.
