OIL PUMP INSPECTION

PROCEDURE


  1. INSPECT FRONT OIL PUMP ASSEMBLY


    1. A01W5C7

      Turn the front oil pump drive gear with 2 screwdrivers and make sure that it rotates smoothly.

      Note

      Be careful not to damage the oil seal lip.

  2. INSPECT CLEARANCE OF FRONT OIL PUMP AND GEAR BODY SUB-ASSEMBLY


    1. Inspect the body clearance.


      1. A01W4E4

        Push the front oil pump driven gear to one side of the body.

      2. Using a feeler gauge, measure the body clearance.

        Standard clearance
        0.075 to 0.145 mm (0.00296 to 0.00570 in.)
        Maximum clearance
        0.145 mm (0.00570 in.)

        If the clearance is more than the maximum, replace the front oil pump drive gear, front oil pump driven gear or front oil pump and gear body sub-assembly.

    2. Inspect the side clearance.


      1. A01W39N

        Using a straightedge and feeler gauge, measure the side clearance of both gears.

        Standard side clearance
        0.025 to 0.040 mm (0.000985 to 0.00157 in.)
        Maximum side clearance
        0.04 mm (0.00157 in.)

        If the clearance is more than the maximum, replace the front oil pump drive gear, front oil pump driven gear or front oil pump and gear body sub-assembly.

        Tech Tips

        There are 5 different thicknesses for the drive and driven gears.

  3. INSPECT FRONT OIL PUMP BODY SUB-ASSEMBLY


    1. A01W4JN

      Using a caliper gauge, measure the inside diameter of the front oil pump body bushing.

      Standard inside diameter
      43.135 to 43.160 mm (1.6983 to 1.6992 in.)
      Maximum inside diameter
      43.160 mm (1.6992 in.)

      If the inside diameter is more than the maximum, replace the front oil pump and gear body sub-assembly.

  4. INSPECT STATOR SHAFT ASSEMBLY


    1. A01W58Z

      Using a caliper gauge, measure the inside diameter of the stator shaft bushing.

      Standard inside diameter
      22.500 to 22.526 mm (0.88583 to 0.88684 in.)
      Maximum inside diameter
      22.570 mm (0.88858 in.)

      If the inside diameter is more than the maximum, replace the stator shaft assembly.
