LUBRICATION SYSTEM ON-VEHICLE INSPECTION

PROCEDURE


  1. INSPECT ENGINE OIL LEVEL


    1. Warm up the engine, stop it and wait 5 minutes. The engine oil level should be between the engine oil level dipstick low level mark and full level mark.

      If the engine oil level is low, check for leakage and add engine oil up to the full level mark.

      Note

      Do not add engine oil to above the full level mark.

  2. INSPECT ENGINE OIL QUALITY


    1. Check the engine oil for deterioration, water contamination, discoloring or thinning.

      If the condition is visibly poor, replace the engine oil and engine oil filter.

  3. INSPECT OIL PRESSURE


    1. Remove the engine oil pressure switch Click here.

      Install the oil pressure gauge with the adapter.

    3. Warm up the engine.

    4. Check the oil pressure.

      Standard Oil Pressure
      Engine Condition Oil Pressure
      Idle

      30 kPa (0.3 kgf/cm2, 4.4 psi) or more

      3000 rpm

      200 kPa (2.0 kgf/cm2, 29 psi) or more

      If the oil pressure is not as specified, check the oil pump Click here.

    5. Remove the oil pressure gauge with the adapter.

    6. Install the engine oil pressure switch Click here.
