REAR BUMPER REASSEMBLY

PROCEDURE


  1. INSTALL NO. 1 REAR BUMPER REINFORCEMENT


    1. A01W28F

      Install the No. 1 rear bumper reinforcement with the 6 nuts.

      Torque:
      35 N*m  { 357 kgf*cm, 26 ft.*lbf }
  2. INSTALL REAR BUMPER ENERGY ABSORBER


    1. A01W3RV

      Engage the 2 guides to install the rear bumper energy absorber.

  3. INSTALL NO. 1 REAR BUMPER SIDE SUPPORT LH


    1. A01W2SO

      Engage the 2 guides and claw.

    2. A01W2EZ

      Install the screw.

    3. A01W0LL

      Install the screw.

    4. A01W01A

      Install the No. 1 rear bumper side support LH with the 2 grommets.

  4. INSTALL NO. 1 REAR BUMPER SIDE SUPPORT RH

    Tech Tips

    Use the same procedure as for the LH side.

  5. INSTALL NO. 2 REAR BUMPER SIDE SUPPORT LH

      Engage the 5 claws.

      Engage the 4 clips to install the No. 2 rear bumper side support LH as shown in the illustration.

  6. INSTALL NO. 2 REAR BUMPER SIDE SUPPORT RH

    Tech Tips

    Use the same procedure as for the LH side.

  7. INSTALL LOWER REAR BUMPER RETAINER (w/o Tail Exhaust Pipe Baffle)

      Engage the 10 claws.

    2. A01W56N

      Install the lower rear bumper retainer with the 2 screws.

  8. INSTALL NO. 3 ULTRASONIC SENSOR CLIP (w/ LEXUS Parking Assist-sensor System)

    Tech Tips

    When installing the No. 3 ultrasonic sensor clip, heat the rear bumper assembly using a heat light.

    Heating Temperature
    Item Temperature
    Rear Bumper Assembly 20 to 30°C (68 to 86°F)

    Note

    Do not heat the front bumper assembly excessively.


    1. Clean the rear bumper assembly.


      1. Using a heat light, heat the rear bumper assembly surface.

      2. Remove any remaining double-sided tape from the rear bumper assembly.

      3. Wipe off any tape adhesive residue with cleaner.

    2. Install the No. 3 ultrasonic sensor clip.

        Coat the installation surface on the rear bumper assembly with primer as shown in the illustration.

      2. Remove the release paper from a new No. 3 ultrasonic sensor clip.

        Tech Tips

        After removing the release paper, keep the exposed adhesive free from foreign matter.

        Install the No. 3 ultrasonic sensor clip as shown in the illustration.

        Note


        • Allow the primer to dry for 10 minutes or more.

        • If 24 hours have elapsed since primer was applied, reapply primer

        Tech Tips

        Install the No. 3 ultrasonic sensor clip along the line marked on the rear bumper assembly.

      4. Lightly press the surface of No. 3 ultrasonic sensor clip to ensure a close fit.

  9. INSTALL NO. 2 LUGGAGE ROOM WIRE (w/ LEXUS Parking Assist-sensor System)


    1. A01W1Y1

      Engage the clamp to install the No. 2 luggage room wire.

  10. INSTALL NO. 2 ULTRASONIC SENSOR RETAINER (w/ LEXUS Parking Assist-sensor System)

  11. INSTALL NO. 2 ULTRASONIC SENSOR WITH CLIP (w/ LEXUS Parking Assist-sensor System)

  12. INSTALL REFLEX REFLECTOR ASSEMBLY LH


    1. A01W3BS

      Engage the claw.

    2. Install the reflex reflector assembly LH with the screw.

  13. INSTALL REFLEX REFLECTOR ASSEMBLY RH

    Tech Tips

    Use the same procedure as for the LH side.

  14. INSTALL REAR BUMPER PAD RH


    1. Clean the rear bumper assembly.


      1. Remove any remaining double-sided tape from the rear bumper assembly.

      2. Wipe off any tape adhesive residue with cleaner.

    2. Remove the release paper from a new rear bumper pad RH.

      Tech Tips

      After removing the release paper, keep the exposed adhesive free from foreign matter.

      Tech Tips

      Install the rear bumper pad RH along the line marked on the rear bumper assembly.

  15. INSTALL REAR BUMPER PAD LH


    1. Clean the rear bumper assembly.


      1. Remove any remaining double-sided tape from the rear bumper assembly.

      2. Wipe off any tape adhesive residue with cleaner.

    2. Remove the release paper from a new rear bumper pad LH.

      Tech Tips

      After removing the release paper, keep the exposed adhesive free from foreign matter.
