WIPER AND WASHER SYSTEM Rain Sensor Circuit

DESCRIPTION

The windshield wiper relay assembly receives a signal from the rain sensor to control the auto wiper system.

PROCEDURE


  1. CHECK HARNESS AND CONNECTOR (WINDSHIELD WIPER RELAY ASSEMBLY - RAIN SENSOR)


    1. for LHD


      1. Disconnect the H51 windshield wiper relay assembly connector.

      2. Disconnect the T1 rain sensor connector.

      3. Measure the resistance according to the value(s) in the table below.

        Standard Resistance
        Tester Connection Condition Specified Condition
        H51-14 (MPX1) - T1-1 (MPX) Always Below 1 Ω
        T1-1 (MPX) - Body ground Always 10 kΩ or higher

    2. for RHD, w/o Pre-Crash Safety System


      1. Disconnect the H51 windshield wiper relay assembly connector.

      2. Disconnect the T14 rain sensor connector.

      3. Measure the resistance according to the value(s) in the table below.

        Standard Resistance
        Tester Connection Condition Specified Condition
        H51-14 (MPX1) - T14-1 (MPX) Always Below 1 Ω
        T14-1 (MPX) - Body ground Always 10 kΩ or higher

    3. for RHD, w/ Pre-Crash Safety System


      1. Disconnect the H51 windshield wiper relay assembly connector.

      2. Disconnect the T16 rain sensor connector.

      3. Measure the resistance according to the value(s) in the table below.

        Standard Resistance
        Tester Connection Condition Specified Condition
        H51-14 (MPX1) - T16-1 (MPX) Always Below 1 Ω
        T16-1 (MPX) - Body ground Always 10 kΩ or higher

    REPAIR OR REPLACE HARNESS OR CONNECTOR

    OK

  2. CHECK HARNESS AND CONNECTOR (ROOF CONSOLE BOX ASSEMBLY - IG CIRCUIT AND BODY GROUND)


    1. Disconnect the T10 roof console box assembly.

    2. Measure the voltage according to the value(s) in the table below.

      Standard Voltage
      Tester Connection Condition Specified Condition
      T10-1 (IG) - T10-19 (GND) Engine switch on (IG) 11 to 14 V

    REPAIR OR REPLACE HARNESS OR CONNECTOR

    OK

  3. CHECK HARNESS AND CONNECTOR (RAIN SENSOR - ROOF CONSOLE BOX ASSEMBLY)


    1. for LHD


      1. Measure the resistance according to the value(s) in the table below.

        Standard Resistance
        Tester Connection Condition Specified Condition
        T1-2 (ES) - T10-21 (GND2) Always Below 1 Ω
        T1-4 (SIG) - T10-14 (IG2) Always Below 1 Ω
        T1-2 (ES) - Body ground Always 10 kΩ or higher
        T1-4 (SIG) - Body ground Always 10 kΩ or higher

    2. for RHD, w/o Pre-Crash Safety


      1. Measure the resistance according to the value(s) in the table below.

        Standard Resistance
        Tester Connection Condition Specified Condition
        T14-2 (ES) - T10-21 (GND2) Always Below 1 Ω
        T14-4 (SIG) - T10-14 (IG2) Always Below 1 Ω
        T14-2 (ES) - Body ground Always 10 kΩ or higher
        T14-4 (SIG) - Body ground Always 10 kΩ or higher

    3. for RHD, w/ Pre-Crash Safety


      1. Measure the resistance according to the value(s) in the table below.

        Standard Resistance
        Tester Connection Condition Specified Condition
        T16-2 (ES) - T10-21 (GND2) Always Below 1 Ω
        T16-4 (SIG) - T10-14 (IG2) Always Below 1 Ω
        T16-2 (ES) - Body ground Always 10 kΩ or higher

  4. INSPECT ROOF CONSOLE BOX ASSEMBLY


    1. for LHD


      1. Reconnect the T10 roof console box assembly.

      2. Measure the voltage according to the value(s) in the table below.

        Standard Voltage
        Tester Connection Condition Specified Condition
        T1-4 (SIG) - T1-2 (ES) Engine switch on (IG) 11 to 14 V

    2. for RHD, w/o Pre-Crash Safety System


      1. Reconnect the T10 roof console box assembly.

      2. Measure the voltage according to the value(s) in the table below.

        Standard Voltage
        Tester Connection Condition Specified Condition
        T14-4 (SIG) - T14-2 (ES) Engine switch on (IG) 11 to 14 V

    3. for RHD, w/ Pre-Crash Safety System


      1. Reconnect the T10 roof console box assembly.

      2. Measure the voltage according to the value(s) in the table below.

        Standard Voltage

        T16-4 (SIG) - T16-2 (ES) Engine switch on (IG) 11 to 14 V

  5. INSPECT RAIN SENSOR


    1. for LHD


      1. Reconnect the T1 rain sensor connector.

      2. Connect an oscilloscope to the rain sensor connector.

      1. Reconnect the T16 rain sensor connector.
