OUTLINE
The Controller Area Network (CAN) uses 2 different types of CAN buses:
The CAN V bus, bus 1, bus 2, bus 3 are HS-CAN buses that operate at 500 kbps.
The CAN sub bus 1 is an MS-CAN bus that operates at 250 kbps.
Each CAN bus has 2 terminating resistors which are necessary for accurate judgment of communication.
The terminating resistors for each bus are located as shown in the following table.
| Speed Communication | Bus | Terminating Resistor Location |
|---|---|---|
| High-speed (HS-CAN) | CAN V Bus | Central Gateway ECU |
| CAN Bus 1 |
|
|
| CAN Bus 2 |
|
|
| CAN Bus 3 | Central Gateway ECU | |
| CAN Sub Bus 13 |
|
|
| Middle-speed (MS-CAN) | CAN Sub Bus 1 |
|
The central gateway ECU has a gateway function and is used to transmit data between the CAN V bus, CAN bus 1, CAN bus 2 and CAN bus 3.
The main body ECU (multiplex network body ECU) has a gateway function and is used to transmit data between the CAN bus 2 and CAN sub bus 1.
The driving support ECU assembly has a gateway function and is used to transmit data between the CAN bus 1and CAN sub bus 13.
