LUBRICATION SYSTEM

  1. CONSTRUCTION

    1. Oil Pump

      1. A trochoid gear type oil pump directly driven by the crankshaft is used.

      2. This oil pump uses an internal relief method which circulates relief oil to the suction passage of the oil pump assembly. This aims to minimize oil level change in the oil pan assembly, reduce friction, and reduce the air mixing rate in the oil.

    2. Oil Strainer Sub-assembly

      1. The oil strainer structure has been divided into 2 parts. By utilizing resin composite material for oil strainer sub-assembly, light-weight and compactness has been achieved, and the overall engine height is decreased.

    3. Oil Nozzle Sub-assembly

      1. No. 1 oil nozzle sub-assemblies are provided on the cylinder block sub-assembly for cooling and lubricating the pistons.

      2. These No. 1 oil nozzle sub-assemblies contain a check ball to prevent oil from being fed when the oil pressure is low. This prevents the overall oil pressure in the engine from dropping.

    4. Oil Filter

      1. An oil filter with a replaceable oil filter element is used. The oil filter element uses high performance filter paper to improve filtration performance. It is also combustible for environmental friendliness.

      2. A plastic oil filter cap is used for weight reduction.

      3. This oil filter has a structure which can allow draining of the oil remaining in the oil filter. This prevents oil from spattering when replacing the element and allows the technician to work without touching hot oil.

    5. Engine Oil Level Sensor

      1. An engine oil level sensor is installed in the stiffening crankcase assembly. When the oil surface drops below the L level of the engine oil level dipstick, the engine oil level sensor detects the low oil surface and a warning light in the combination meter assembly illuminates to inform the driver. As a result, engine trouble is prevented.
