CAN COMMUNICATION SYSTEM

  1. OUTLINE

    1. The Controller Area Network (CAN) is a serial data communication network for real time application. It is a multiplex communication network equipped in a vehicle, and has communication speeds of 500 kbps (HS-CAN).

    2. The HS-CAN consists of the V bus, sub bus 11, sub bus 12 and sub bus 13.

    3. The power management control ECU has a gateway function and is used to transmit data between the V bus, sub bus 11 and sub bus 12.

    4. The CAN has two terminating resistors which are necessary for accurate judgment of communication on the main bus.

    5. The terminating resistors for the V bus are located in the ECM and the combination meter assembly.

    6. The terminating resistors for sub bus 12 are located in the ECM and the power management control ECU.

    7. The terminating resistors for sub bus 11 are located in the junction connector and the power management control ECU.

    8. The terminating resistors for sub bus 13 are located in the driving support ECU assembly and the millimeter wave radar sensor assembly.

  2. MAJOR DIFFERENCE

    1. The new models have been modified from the previous models as shown below:

      1. A lane departure warning camera has been added to CAN sub bus 11.

      2. The connection between the driving support ECU assembly and millimeter wave radar sensor has been changed from a direct communication to a CAN communication line (CAN sub bus 13).

      3. The seatbelt control ECU has been discontinued.
