OUTLINE
Once the cruise control system is set to the desired vehicle speed by the driver, the ECM automatically regulates the motive force to maintain the set speed without any accelerator pedal operation.
PRECAUTION
Observe the following precautions when using the cruise control system:
Turn off the "ON-OFF" button on the cruise control main switch assembly whenever the cruise control system is not in use.
Beware of a possible increase in vehicle speed when driving downhill.
The resume control is activated when the cruise control main switch assembly is pressed to the "+ RES" side after the cruise control system is cancelled, and the accelerator control is activated when the cruise control main switch assembly is pressed to the "+ RES" side while driving at a constant speed.
If the cruise main indicator light illuminates amber, there may be a malfunction in the system. Although this does not affect normal driving, have the vehicle inspected at a Toyota dealer.
Do not use the cruise control system under the following road and vehicle conditions:
Road with heavy traffic
Steep downhill and uphill slopes
Road with sharp bends
Winding road
Frozen or snowy road
Slippery road surface
Do not use the cruise control system when towing a vehicle. The weight of the vehicle being towed may impair the system function and deteriorate the control performance, resulting in unexpected accidents.
