Throttle Actuator Control System - Stuck Closed

The throttle does not open when current is applied to the throttle motor (1 trip detection logic).

  • Open or short circuit in throttle motor circuit

CONFIRMATION DRIVING PATTERN

DTC P2112 is detected when the ignition switch to ON.

Note:

After replacing the throttle body with motor assembly, perform electronic throttle learning and idle learning.

Tip:

Read freeze frame data using the GTS. Freeze frame data records the engine condition when malfunctions are detected. When troubleshooting, freeze frame data can help determine if the vehicle was moving or stationary, if the engine was warmed up or not, if the air fuel ratio was lean or rich, and other data from the time the malfunction occurred.

PROCEDURE

  1. CHECK ANY OTHER DTC OUTPUT (IN ADDITION TO DTC P2112)

    1. Connect the GTS to the DLC3.

    2. Turn the ignition switch to ON.

    3. Turn the GTS on.

    4. Enter the following menus: Powertrain / Engine and ECT / Trouble Codes.

    5. Read the DTCs.

      Powertrain > Engine and ECT > Trouble Codes

      Tip:

      If any DTCs other than P2112 are output, troubleshoot those DTCs first.

  2. INSPECT THROTTLE BODY WITH MOTOR ASSEMBLY (VISUALLY CHECK THROTTLE VALVE)

    1. Remove the throttle body with motor assembly.

    2. Check for contamination between the throttle valve and housing. If necessary, clean the throttle body with motor assembly. Also, check that the throttle valve moves smoothly.

      Throttle valve is not contaminated with foreign matter and moves smoothly.

  3. CHECK HARNESS AND CONNECTOR (THROTTLE BODY WITH MOTOR ASSEMBLY - ECM)

    1. Disconnect the throttle body with motor assembly connector.

    2. Disconnect the ECM connector.

    3. Measure the resistance according to the value(s) in the table below.

  5. CHECK WHETHER DTC OUTPUT RECURS (DTC P2112)

    1. Connect the GTS to the DLC3.

    2. Turn the ignition switch to ON.

    3. Turn the GTS on.

    4. Clear the DTCs.

      Powertrain > Engine and ECT > Clear DTCs

    5. Turn the ignition switch off and wait for at least 30 seconds.

    6. Turn the ignition switch to ON.

    7. Turn the GTS on.

    8. Enter the following menus: Powertrain / Engine and ECT / Trouble Codes.

    9. Read the DTCs.

      Powertrain > Engine and ECT > Trouble Codes

      OK

      DTCs are not output.
