FRONT BRAKE(for 17 inch Front Disc Brake) REMOVAL

CAUTION / NOTICE / HINT

Tip:

  • Use the same procedure for the RH and LH sides.

  • The procedures listed below are for the LH side.

PROCEDURE

  1. REMOVE FRONT WHEEL

  2. DRAIN BRAKE FLUID

    Note:

    Wash off brake fluid immediately if it comes in contact with any painted surface.

  3. DISCONNECT FRONT FLEXIBLE HOSE

      Remove the union bolt and gasket.

    2. Disconnect the flexible hose from the brake cylinder.

  4. REMOVE DISC BRAKE CYLINDER ASSEMBLY LH

      Turn

      Hold the front disc brake cylinder slide pin and remove the 2 bolts and disc brake cylinder assembly.

  5. REMOVE FRONT DISC BRAKE PAD

    1. Remove the 2 anti-squeal springs from the front disc brake pads.

    2. Remove the 2 brake pads from the front disc brake cylinder mounting.

  6. REMOVE FRONT ANTI-SQUEAL SHIM KIT

    1. Remove the No. 1 anti-squeal shim and No. 2 anti-squeal shim from each front disc brake pad.

  7. REMOVE NO. 1 PAD WEAR INDICATOR PLATE

    1. Remove the 2 pad wear indicator plates from the front disc brake pads.

  8. REMOVE NO. 1 FRONT DISC BRAKE PAD SUPPORT PLATE

      No. 1 Front Disc Brake Pad Support Plate

      No. 2 Front Disc Brake Pad Support Plate

      *3

      No. 3 Front Disc Brake Pad Support Plate

      *4

      No. 4 Front Disc Brake Pad Support Plate

      Remove the No. 1 front disc brake pad support plate from the front disc brake cylinder mounting.

  9. REMOVE NO. 2 FRONT DISC BRAKE PAD SUPPORT PLATE

    1. Remove the No. 2 front disc brake pad support plate from the front disc brake cylinder mounting.

  10. REMOVE NO. 3 FRONT DISC BRAKE PAD SUPPORT PLATE

    1. Remove the No. 3 front disc brake pad support plate from the front disc brake cylinder mounting.

  11. REMOVE NO. 4 FRONT DISC BRAKE PAD SUPPORT PLATE

    1. Remove the No. 4 front disc brake pad support plate from the front disc brake cylinder mounting.

  12. REMOVE FRONT DISC BRAKE CYLINDER MOUNTING LH

    1. C279252

      Remove the 2 bolts and front disc brake cylinder mounting.

  13. REMOVE FRONT DISC BRAKE CYLINDER SLIDE PIN

      Front Disc Brake Cylinder Slide Pin

      No. 2 Front Disc Brake Cylinder Slide Pin

      Remove the front disc brake cylinder slide pin from the front disc brake cylinder mounting.

  14. REMOVE NO. 2 FRONT DISC BRAKE CYLINDER SLIDE PIN

    1. Remove the No. 2 front disc brake cylinder slide pin from the front disc brake cylinder mounting.

  15. REMOVE FRONT DISC BRAKE CYLINDER SLIDE BUSH

      Protective Tape

      Using a screwdriver, remove the front disc brake cylinder slide bush from the No. 2 front disc brake cylinder slide pin.

      Tip:

      Tape the screwdriver tip before use.

      Note:

      Be careful not to damage the pin.

  16. REMOVE FRONT DISC BRAKE BUSH DUST BOOT

    1. C127072

      Remove the 2 front disc brake bush dust boots from the front disc brake cylinder mounting.

  17. REMOVE FRONT DISC

      Matchmark

      Put matchmarks on the disc and axle hub.

    2. Remove the disc.
