QUARTER WINDOW GLASS REMOVAL

CAUTION / NOTICE / HINT

Tip:
  • Use the same procedure for the RH and LH sides.

  • The procedure listed below is for the LH side.

PROCEDURE

  1. REMOVE DECK BOARD ASSEMBLY

  2. REMOVE BATTERY SERVICE COVER

  3. PRECAUTION

    Note:

    After turning the power switch off, waiting time may be required before disconnecting the cable from the auxiliary battery terminal. Therefore, make sure to read the disconnecting the cable from the auxiliary battery terminal notice before proceeding with work.

  4. DISCONNECT CABLE FROM NEGATIVE AUXILIARY BATTERY TERMINAL

    CAUTION:

    Wait at least 90 seconds after disconnecting the cable from the negative (-) auxiliary battery terminal to disable the SRS system.

    Note:

    When disconnecting the cable, some systems need to be initialized after the cable is reconnected.

  5. REMOVE NO. 1 SEAT LEG ASSEMBLY

  6. REMOVE PACKAGE TRAY TRIM POCKET SUB-ASSEMBLY (w/ Partition Net)

  7. REMOVE TONNEAU COVER ASSEMBLY (w/ Tonneau Cover)

  8. REMOVE REAR NO. 3 FLOOR BOARD

  9. REMOVE REAR NO. 2 FLOOR BOARD

    Tip:

    Use the same procedure described for the rear No. 3 floor board side.

  10. REMOVE DECK TRIM SIDE COVER BASE LH

  11. REMOVE DECK FLOOR BOX LH

  12. REMOVE REAR NO. 1 FLOOR MAT SUPPORT SIDE PLATE

  13. REMOVE REAR FLOOR FINISH PLATE (w/o Spare Tire, for Compact Spare Tire)

  14. REMOVE REAR DECK TRIM COVER (w/ Full Size Spare Tire)

  15. REMOVE REAR SEAT ASSEMBLY

  16. REMOVE REAR DOOR SCUFF PLATE LH

  17. REMOVE REAR DOOR OPENING TRIM WEATHERSTRIP LH

  18. REMOVE DECK TRIM SERVICE HOLE COVER

  19. REMOVE DECK TRIM SIDE PANEL ASSEMBLY LH

  20. REMOVE SEAT BELT ANCHOR COVER CAP

  21. REMOVE INNER ROOF SIDE GARNISH ASSEMBLY LH

  22. REMOVE ROOF HEADLINING ASSEMBLY

    1. Partially remove the roof headlining assembly.

      Click here

      Tip:

      It is not necessary to completely remove the roof headlining assembly. Slightly lower the rear section of the roof headlining assembly so that the quarter window glass assembly LH can be removed.

  23. REMOVE QUARTER WINDOW ASSEMBLY LH

    Protective Tape

    Tip:

    Apply protective tape to the outer surface of the vehicle body to prevent scratches.

    Note:

    When separating the quarter window assembly from the vehicle, be careful not to damage the vehicle paint or interior/exterior ornaments.

    1. Using a knife, cut off the moulding as shown in the illustration.

      Note:

      Be careful not to damage the vehicle body.

    2. Disconnect the connector.

    3. From the interior, insert a piano wire between the vehicle body and the quarter window assembly as shown in the illustration.

    4. Tie objects that can serve as handles (for example, wooden blocks) to both wire ends.

      Clip

      Cut through the adhesive by pulling the piano wire around the quarter window glass.

      Note:

      Leave as much adhesive on the vehicle body as possible when removing the quarter window assembly.

    6. Using suction cups, remove the quarter window assembly LH.

      Tip:
      • Be careful not to drop the quarter window assembly.

      • Be sure to replace the quarter window assembly with a new one.

  24. CLEAN VEHICLE BODY

    Adhesive

    Vehicle Body

    1. Clean and shape the contact surface of the vehicle body.

      1. On the contact surface of the vehicle body, use a knife to cut away excess adhesive as shown in the illustration.

        Tip:

        Leave as much adhesive on the vehicle body as possible.

        Note:

        Be careful not to damage the vehicle body.

      2. Clean the contact surface of the vehicle body with cleaner.

        Tip:

        Even if all the adhesive has been removed, clean the vehicle body.
