CURTAIN SHIELD AIRBAG ASSEMBLY INSTALLATION

Tech Tips


  • Use the same procedure for RHD and LHD vehicles.

  • The following procedure is for LHD vehicles.

  • Use the same procedure for the RH side and LH side.

  • The following procedure is for the LH side.

PROCEDURE


  1. INSTALL CURTAIN SHIELD AIRBAG ASSEMBLY

    Note

    When installing a curtain shield airbag assembly, have assistants hold it to prevent it from bending.


    1. Check that the ignition switch off.

    2. Check that the cable is disconnected from the negative (-) battery terminal.

      CAUTION:

      Wait at least 90 seconds after disconnecting the cable from the negative (-) battery terminal to disable the SRS system.

    3. Engage the hooks and claws (A) to temporarily install the curtain shield airbag assembly.

      *c Claw (B) *d Spacer Location

    4. Install the 3 new bolts.

      Torque:
      11 N*m  { 112 kgf*cm, 8 ft.*lbf }

      Note

      Do not twist the curtain shield airbag assembly when installing it.

    5. Install the curtain shield airbag assembly with new spacer and new clip.

      Tech Tips

      Engage the claws (B) to install each new clip.

    6. Using needle nose pliers, push the pins into the clips.

      Note


      • Do not damage the pins.

      • Make sure that the pins of the clips are pushed in firmly.

      Connect the airbag connector.

      Note

      When connecting any airbag connector, take care not to damage the airbag wire harness.

    8. Push in the airbag connector lock to install the airbag connector.

      Note

      Securely lock the airbag connector lock.

  2. INSTALL ROOF HEADLINING ASSEMBLY

  3. CONNECT CABLE TO NEGATIVE BATTERY TERMINAL


    Note

    When disconnecting the cable, some systems need to be initialized after the cable is reconnected.

  5. INSPECT SRS WARNING LIGHT
