DESCRIPTION

The power steering ECU (rack and pinion power steering gear assembly) determines whether ECM, steering sensor, skid control ECU (brake actuator assembly)*1, skid control ECU assembly*2 and VGRS ECU (front steering control ECU)*3 are installed based on the identification information.

  • An incompatible skid control ECU assembly is detected (w/o Vacuum Brake Booster)

  • An incompatible VGRS ECU (front steering control ECU) is detected (w/ Variable Gear Ratio Steering System)

  • Incorrect ECM

  • Incorrect steering sensor

  • Incorrect skid control ECU (brake actuator assembly) (w/ Vacuum Brake Booster)

  • Incorrect skid control ECU assembly (w/o Vacuum Brake Booster)

  • Incorrect VGRS ECU (front steering control ECU) (w/ Variable Gear Ratio Steering System)

  • Rack and pinion power steering gear assembly

 EPS warning light: Comes on Engine switch on (IG) again -

Note

If the rack and pinion power steering gear assembly has been replaced, perform assist map writing and torque sensor zero point calibration.

  1. CHECK RELATED PART


    1. Confirm if the related part has the correct part number.

    1. Select Health Check on the GTS screen and check if system DTCs of the related part are output.

      Tech Tips

      If system DTCs of the related part are stored, assist map writing to the power steering ECU (rack and pinion power steering gear assembly) may not be performed properly.
