WIPER SWITCH ON-VEHICLE INSPECTION

PROCEDURE

1. INSPECT WINDSHIELD WIPER SWITCH ASSEMBLY (for LHD)

   
   

   1. Check the front wiper intermittent operation (w/ Intermittent function).

      
      
      1. 

         *a	Component with harness connected (Windshield Wiper Switch Assembly)

         Connect a voltmeter positive (+) lead to terminal G19-3 (+1) and a negative (-) lead to terminal G18-4 (EW).

      2. Turn the ignition switch to ON.

      3. Turn the wiper switch to the INT position.

      4. Operate the intermittent wiper and check the voltage between terminals G19-3 (+1) and G18-7 (EW).

         OK
         Voltage changes as shown in the illustration.

         
         

         If the result is not as specified, replace the windshield wiper switch assembly.

   2. Check the front washer operation.

      
      
      1. 

         *a	Component with harness connected (Windshield Wiper Switch Assembly)

         Connect a voltmeter positive (+) lead to terminal G18-4 (WF) and a negative (-) lead to terminal G18-7 (EW).

      2. Turn the ignition switch to ON.

      3. Turn the washer switch on and off, and check the voltage between terminals G18-4 (WF) and G18-7 (EW).

         OK
         Voltage changes as shown in the following illustration.

         

         If the result is not as specified, replace the windshield wiper switch assembly.

2. INSPECT WINDSHIELD WIPER SWITCH ASSEMBLY (for RHD)

   
   

   1. Check the front wiper intermittent operation (for LH Side).

      
      
      1. 

         *a	Component with harness connected (Windshield Wiper Switch Assembly)

         Connect a voltmeter positive (+) lead to terminal G19-2 (+1) and a negative (-) lead to terminal G18-7 (EW).

      2. Turn the ignition switch to ON.

      3. Turn the wiper switch to the INT position.

      4. Operate the intermittent wiper and check the voltage between terminals G19-2 (+1) and G18-7 (EW).

         OK
         Voltage changes as shown in the illustration.

         
         

         If the result is not as specified, replace the windshield wiper switch assembly.

   2. Check the front washer operation (for LH Side).

      
      
      1. 

         *a	Component with harness connected (Windshield Wiper Switch Assembly)

         Connect a voltmeter positive (+) lead to terminal G18-4 (WF) and a negative (-) lead to terminal G18-7 (EW).

      2. Turn the ignition switch to ON.

      3. Turn the washer switch on and off, and check the voltage between terminals G18-4 (WF) and G18-7 (EW).

         OK
         Voltage changes as shown in the following illustration.

         

         If the result is not as specified, replace the windshield wiper switch assembly.

   3. Check the front wiper intermittent operation (for RH Side).

      
      
      1. 

         *a	Component with harness connected (Windshield Wiper Switch Assembly)

         Connect a voltmeter positive (+) lead to terminal G19-3 (+1) and a negative (-) lead to terminal G18-4 (EW).

      2. Turn the ignition switch to ON.

      3. Turn the wiper switch to the INT position.

      4. Operate the intermittent wiper and check the voltage between terminals G19-3 (+1) and G18-7 (EW).

         OK
         Voltage changes as shown in the illustration.

         
         

         If the result is not as specified, replace the windshield wiper switch assembly.

   4. Check the front washer operation (for RH Side).

      
      
      1. 

         *a	Component with harness connected (Windshield Wiper Switch Assembly)

         Connect a voltmeter positive (+) lead to terminal G18-4 (WF) and a negative (-) lead to terminal G18-7 (EW).

      2. Turn the ignition switch to ON.

      3. Turn the washer switch on and off, and check the voltage between terminals G18-4 (WF) and G18-7 (EW).

         OK
         Voltage changes as shown in the following illustration.

         

         If the result is not as specified, replace the windshield wiper switch assembly.
