POWER BACK DOOR SYSTEM

  1. OUTLINE

    1. The power back door system enables the back door to be opened and closed automatically by a motor in accordance with signals from the power back door control switch, the back door opener switch assembly or power back door button on an electrical key transmitter sub-assembly. In addition, a power back door switch has been provided on the back door for convenience.

    2. The touchless power back door function has been adopted on some models. The back door on models with the touchless power back door function can be opened by holding a hand over the rear emblem sensor assembly.

    3. The reserve lock function enables the back door to be closed and automatically locked by pressing the door control switch on the back door assembly twice. (Except models for Europe)

    4. A spindle type power back door is used to achieve improved rearward visibility. Also, the user can set the opening angle of the back door in the preferences. For example, if the garage has a low ceiling, the opening angle of the back door can be set not to hit the ceiling.

    5. This system is controlled by the power back door ECU (multiplex network door ECU).

  2. PRECAUTION

    1. Door Control Receiver Expressions

      1. The type of door control receiver used on this model differs according to the specifications of the vehicles. The expressions listed in the table below are used in this section:

Vehicle Specification Part Name in Manual Actual Part Name
Models with Tire Pressure Warning System (Integrated TPMS Receiver Type) Smart Door Control Receiver Assembly Electrical Key and TPMS Receiver Assembly
Models with Tire Pressure Warning System (Separated TPMS Receiver Type) Smart Door Control Receiver Assembly
Models without Tire Pressure Warning System
    2. When the touchless power back door function is not to be used, disable the touchless power back door function using the multi-information display.

      • When an electrical key transmitter sub-assembly or the electrical key (card key) transmitter sub-assembly* is not within the operational range

      • When an external radio wave source interferes with the communication between the vehicle and electrical key transmitter sub-assembly or the electrical key (card key) transmitter sub-assembly*

      • When the power back door is not fully closed

      • When a hand is held parallel to the rear emblem sensor assembly
