SRS REAR SEAT CUSHION AIRBAG ASSEMBLY ON-VEHICLE INSPECTION

CAUTION:

Be sure to correctly follow the removal and installation procedures for the rear seat cushion airbag assemblies.

PROCEDURE


  1. INSPECT REAR SEAT CUSHION AIRBAG ASSEMBLY (for Vehicle not Involved in Collision)


    1. Perform a diagnostic system check.

    2. Visually check for defects with the rear seat cushion airbag assemblies installed to the vehicle.

      Tech Tips

      The defects are as follows:


      • Scratches, broken or frayed threads on the surface of the rear seat cushion assembly around the rear seat cushion airbag assemblies

      • Small cracks on the rear seat cushion assembly around the rear seat cushion airbag assemblies

      • Significant discoloration on the rear seat cushion assembly around the rear seat cushion airbag assemblies

      OK
      No defects are found.

      If any defects are found, replace the rear seat cushion pad and rear seat cushion cover with a new one.

  2. INSPECT REAR SEAT CUSHION AIRBAG ASSEMBLY (for Vehicle Involved in Collision and Airbag not Deployed)


    1. Perform a diagnostic system check.

    2. Visually check for defects with the rear seat cushion airbag assemblies removed from the vehicle.

      Tech Tips

      The defects are as follows:


      • Scratches, broken or frayed threads on the surface of the base fabric of the rear seat cushion airbag assemblies

      • Marks from being dropped

      • Deformation of the installation surface of the rear seat cushion airbag assemblies

      • Cracks or other damage to the wire harness or connector

      OK
      No defects are found.

      If any defects are found, replace the rear seat cushion airbag assembly with a new one.
