CHARGING SYSTEM(w/ Stop And Start System) SYSTEM DESCRIPTION
BRIEF DESCRIPTION
REGULATED VOLTAGE IN CASE OF NO LIN COMMUNICATION
The ECM performs charging control and changes the charging control modes depending on the vehicle condition.
When the engine is idling or the vehicle is being driven at a constant speed, the ECM adjusts the charging voltage to make State of Charge (SOC) as close to the target value as possible.
The ECM decreases the charging voltage during acceleration and increases it during deceleration to optimize power generation by the generator assembly. As a result, engine load is reduced and fuel economy is enhanced.
If a malfunction occurs in the battery current sensor assembly when LIN communication between the ECM and generator assembly is normal, as a fail-safe function, the ECM adjusts the charging voltage of the generator assembly based on the battery temperature. If LIN communication between the ECM and generator assembly is lost, the control circuit of the generator assembly adjusts the charging voltage as close as possible to the central value of the regulation voltage range.
