  1. FUNCTION OF MAIN COMPONENTS

    Windshield Deicer System (Models with Windshield Deicer System)
    Component Function

    Front Wiper Deicer Switch


    • IC (Timer Circuit)

    • Indicator Light

    • Operates the front wiper deicer system. Turn on a HWD NO. 3 /DEICER relay from front wiper deicer switch on for approximately 15 minutes.

    • An indicator light turn on during the system operation.
    HWD NO. 3/DEICER Relay Supply an electric current to front windshield deicer in the windshield glass by the on signal from front wiper deicer switch.

    Windshield Glass


    • Windshield Deicer

    		 Applies electrical current to a windshield deicer in the windshield glass to generate heat and remove ice from the windshield and wiper blades.
    Heated Windshield Defroster System (Models with Heated Windshield Defroster System)
    Component Function

    Front Window Deicer Switch


    • Indicator Light

    • Operates the heated windshield defroster system. Outputs front window deicer switch on signal to an air conditioning amplifier assembly.

    • An indicator light turn on during the system operation.
    Air Conditioning Amplifier Assembly Turn on a HWD NO. 3 /DEICER relay from front window deicer switch on for approximately 4 minutes.
    HWD NO. 3/DEICER Relay Turn on the HWD NO. 1 relay and HWD NO. 2 Relay by the on signal from air conditioning amplifier assembly.
    HWD NO. 1 Relay Supply an electric current to heated windshield defroster RH in the windshield glass by the on signal from HWD NO. 3/DEICER relay.
    HWD NO. 2 Relay Supply an electric current to heated windshield defroster LH in the windshield glass by the on signal from HWD NO. 3/DEICER relay.

    Windshield Glass


    • Heated Windshield Defroster RH

    • Heated Windshield Defroster LH

    		 Applies electrical current to a heated windshield defroster in the windshield glass to generate heat and remove ice from the windshield and wiper blades.

    Tech Tips

    The heated windshield defroster system will not operate if the outside temperature is 5 °C (41 °F) or higher.

  2. SYSTEM CONTROL


    1. Windshield Deicer System (Models with Windshield Deicer System)


      1. The windshield deicer system is activated when the ignition switch is turned to ON and the windshield deicer switch is pushed. The windshield deicer switch keeps the front wiper deicer on for approximately 15 minutes.

    2. Heated Windshield Defroster System (Models with Heated Windshield Defroster System)


      1. If the outside temperature is lower than 5 °C (41°F) when the front wiper deicer switch is pushed after engine start-up, the system operates the heated windshield defroster for 4 minutes.

        Tech Tips


        • If the front wiper deicer switch is pressed when the outside temperature is 5°C (41°F) or higher, the heated windshield defroster system will not operate and the indicator of the front wiper deicer switch will blink 5 times.

        • If the engine idle speed is abnormally low, the heated windshield defroster system will not operate.
