POWER SEAT CONTROL SYSTEM

  1. FUNCTION OF MAIN COMPONENTS

    1. The main components in the driver seat control system (with memory function) have the following functions:

      Driver Seat Memory Function
      Component Outline
      Position Control ECU Assembly
      • Operates the front power seat.

      • Operates the motors in accordance with the signals from the front power seat switch.

      • Registers and recalls seat positions in accordance with the operation of the seat memory switch.

Seat Memory Switch Operates the seat position memory function.
Main Body ECU (Multiplex Network Body ECU) Various signals are transmitted and received via the Controller Area Network (CAN).
      Multiplex Tilt and Telescopic ECU
      • Detects the position information of the tilt and telescopic motors.

      • Receives signals from the position control ECU assembly via the CAN and memorizes and recalls the steering position.

      Outer Mirror Control ECU (LH*1/RH*2)
      • Receives signals from the position control ECU assembly and memorizes and recalls the outer mirror surface position.

      • The outer mirror control ECU sends seat memory switch operating signals to the main body ECU.

  2. OPERATING CONDITION

    1. Memory Function

      1. The memory function operating conditions are as follows:

        Driver Seat Memory Function
        Function Condition Operation
        Memory

Either of the following conditions is met while the engine switch is on (IG):

        • Button 1 or 2 (seat memory switch) is pushed within 3 seconds after the "SET" button is pushed.

        • Stores the seat position.

        • When the memory setting is completed, the buzzer sounds for 0.5 seconds.

        Recall
        • Button 1 or 2 (seat memory switch) is pushed within 180 seconds after the driver door has been opened while the engine switch is off.

        • Button 1 or 2 (seat memory switch) is pushed.

        • The seat position that was memorized in the position control ECU assembly is recalled.

        • The buzzer sounds for 0.1 seconds once the stored seat position is reproduced.

        • Engine switch is on (IG).

        • Shift position is in P.

        • Button 1 or 2 (seat memory switch) is pushed.

Button 1 or 2 (seat memory switch) is pushed within 60 seconds after the engine switch has been turned off and the driver door has been closed.
        Memory Call
        • A key ID is registered to button 1 or 2 (seat memory switch).

        • Engine switch is off.

        • The inside of the outside door handle is touched or the electrical key transmitter sub-assembly unlock button is pushed to unlock, and then the driver door is opened.

        • The seat position that was memorized in the position control ECU assembly is recalled.

        • The buzzer sounds for 0.1 seconds once the stored seat position is reproduced.

  3. FUNCTION

    1. Memory Function

      1. The power seat control system has the following functions:

        Driver Seat Memory Function
        Function Outline
Manual Control The user can perform seat slide, seat reclining, front vertical, seat lifter and lumbar support adjustments by operating the front power seat switch(driver side).
Memory Memory The memory function can memorize 2 different seat positions.
Recall The recall function can recall 2 different memorized seat positions.
Memory Call The memory call function, which utilizes the key IDs, is used to memorize and recall the optimal driving position for a person possessing the electrical key transmitter sub-assembly.
      2. The memory function works in combination with the following systems, ensuring usability and enabling easy entering or exiting of the vehicle.

        System Outline
Power Tilt and Telescopic System The multiplex tilt and telescopic ECU memorizes the steering column position and recalls it when all conditions are met.
Outside Rear View Mirror System The outer mirror control ECUs memorize the outside rear view mirror positions and recalls them when all conditions are met.
    2. Front Passenger Seat System

      1. The power seat system has the following functions:

        System Outline
Manual Control*1 The user can perform seat slide, seat reclining, front vertical, seat lifter and lumbar support*3 adjustments by operating the front power seat switch(front passenger side).
Manual Control*2 The user can perform seat slide and seat reclining adjustments by operating the front power seat switch(front passenger side).

*1: Models with 8-way power seat

*2: Models with 4-way power seat

        *3: Models with lumbar support

    3. Rear Power Seat System

      1. The power seat system has the following functions:

        System Outline
Manual Control The user can perform seat reclining by operating the cooler control switch assembly.
  4. OPERATION

    1. Seat Position Detection Method

      1. Power Seats with Memory Function

        1. The Hall IC installed on the power seat motor generates pulses corresponding to the speed of the motor. These pulses are then picked up by the position control ECU assembly in order to detect the seat position.

  5. DIAGNOSIS

    1. The position control ECU assembly has a diagnosis function. It stores a record of any power seat control system malfunctions in its memory in the form of Diagnostic Trouble Codes (DTCs).

    2. The position control ECU assembly outputs malfunction data and 5-digit DTCs to the Global TechStream (GTS).

    3. The 5-digit DTCs can be read by connecting the Global TechStream (GTS) to the DLC3. For details, refer to the Repair Manual.
