C1AE1 Front Left Sensor Malfunction

DESCRIPTION

The No. 2 ultrasonic sensor (front left sensor) is installed to the front bumper. The clearance warning ECU assembly detects obstacles based on signals received from the No. 2 ultrasonic sensor (front left sensor). If the No. 2 ultrasonic sensor (front left sensor) has an open circuit or other malfunction, it will not function normally.

Note

If DTCs are output after repairs, turn the engine switch on (IG) and the LEXUS parking assist-sensor system on. Then clear the DTCs.

  1. CHECK DTC OUTPUT


    1. Check for DTCs.

  2. REPLACE NO. 2 ULTRASONIC SENSOR (FRONT LEFT SENSOR)


    1. Replace the No. 2 ultrasonic sensor (front left sensor) with a known good one.

      Tech Tips

      All of the sensors are interchangeable. To confirm whether a sensor is functioning normally, switch it with a known good sensor from the other end of the vehicle.
