DESCRIPTION

The rear airbag sensor LH or RH consists of a lateral deceleration sensor, etc.

If the airbag sensor assembly receives signals from the lateral deceleration sensor, it determines whether the SRS should be activated.

DTC B1630/23, B1632/81, B1635/24 or B1637/82 is stored when a malfunction is detected in the rear airbag sensor LH or RH circuit.

Note:
  • After turning the power switch off, waiting time may be required before disconnecting the cable from the negative (-) auxiliary battery terminal. Therefore, make sure to read the disconnecting the cable from the negative (-) auxiliary battery terminal notices before proceeding with work.

PROCEDURE

  1. CHECK DTC

    1. Turn the power switch to on (IG).

    2. Clear the DTCs stored in memory.

      Click here

      Body Electrical > SRS Airbag > Clear DTCs

    3. Turn the power switch off.

    4. Turn the power switch to on (IG), and wait for at least 60 seconds.

    5. Check for DTCs.

      Body Electrical > SRS Airbag > Trouble Codes

      Result

      Proceed to

      DTC B1635/24 or B1637/82 is output

      DTC B1630/23 or B1632/81 is output

      DTC B1630/23, B1632/81, B1635/24 and B1637/82 are not output

      Tip:

      Codes other than DTC B1630/23, B1632/81, B1635/24 and B1637/82 may be output at this time, but they are not related to this check.

  2. CHECK REAR AIRBAG SENSOR LH

      Airbag Sensor Assembly

      Turn the power switch off.

    2. Disconnect the cable from the negative (-) auxiliary battery terminal, and wait for at least 90 seconds.

    3. Interchange the rear airbag sensor LH with RH and connect the connectors to them.

    4. Connect the cable to the negative (-) auxiliary battery terminal, and wait for at least 2 seconds.

    5. Turn the power switch to on (IG), and wait for at least 60 seconds.

    6. Clear the DTCs stored in memory.

    7. Turn the power switch off.

    8. Turn the power switch to on (IG), and wait for at least 60 seconds.

    9. Check for DTCs.

      DTC B1630/23 or B1632/81 is output

      DTC B1635/24 or B1637/82 is output

      DTC B1630/23, B1632/81, B1635/24 and B1637/82 are not output

      Codes other than DTC B1630/23, B1632/81, B1635/24 and B1637/82 may be output at this time, but they are not related to this check.

    10. Turn the power switch off.

    11. Disconnect the cable from the negative (-) auxiliary battery terminal, and wait for at least 90 seconds.

    12. Return the rear airbag sensor RH and LH to their original positions and connect the connectors to them.

    DTC B1630/23 or B1632/81 is output

    REPLACE REAR AIRBAG SENSOR LH

    DTC B1635/24 or B1637/82 is output

    REPLACE AIR BAG SENSOR ASSEMBLY

    DTC B1630/23, B1632/81, B1635/24 and B1637/82 are not output

    USE SIMULATION METHOD TO CHECK

  3. CHECK REAR AIRBAG SENSOR RH

      Turn the power switch off.

    2. Disconnect the cable from the negative (-) auxiliary battery terminal, and wait for at least 90 seconds.

    4. Connect the cable to the negative (-) auxiliary battery terminal, and wait for at least 2 seconds.

    5. Turn the power switch to on (IG), and wait for at least 60 seconds.

    10. Turn the power switch off.

    11. Disconnect the cable from the negative (-) auxiliary battery terminal, and wait for at least 90 seconds.

    12. Return the rear airbag sensor LH and RH to their original positions and connect the connectors to them.

    REPLACE REAR AIRBAG SENSOR RH

    DTC B1630/23 or B1632/81 is output

    REPLACE AIR BAG SENSOR ASSEMBLY
