CYLINDER HEAD DISASSEMBLY

PROCEDURE


  1. REMOVE INTAKE VALVE


    1. A01LB51N04

      Using SST, compress the inner compression spring and remove the 2 valve spring retainer locks.

    2. Remove the valve spring retainer, inner compression spring, intake valve and valve spring seat from the cylinder head sub-assembly.

      Tech Tips

      Arrange the intake valves, inner compression springs, valve spring seats and valve spring retainers in the correct order.

  2. REMOVE EXHAUST VALVE

      Using SST, compress the inner compression spring and remove the 2 valve spring retainer locks.

    2. Remove the valve spring retainer, inner compression spring, exhaust valve and valve spring seat from the cylinder head sub-assembly.

      Tech Tips

      Arrange the exhaust valves, inner compression springs, valve spring seats and valve spring retainers in the correct order.

  3. REMOVE INTAKE VALVE STEM OIL SEAL

      Using needle-nose pliers, remove the intake valve stem oil seal from the valve guide bush.

  4. REMOVE EXHAUST VALVE STEM OIL SEAL


    1. Using needle-nose pliers, remove the exhaust valve stem oil seal from the valve guide bush.

  5. REMOVE SEMICIRCULAR PLUG


    1. Remove the semicircular plug from the cylinder head sub-assembly.

  6. REMOVE NO. 1 STRAIGHT SCREW PLUG

    Tech Tips

    If the No. 1 straight screw plug is corroded, replace it.


    1. Using a 6 mm hexagon wrench, remove the 4 No. 1 straight screw plugs from the cylinder head sub-assembly.

  7. REMOVE STUD BOLT

    Tech Tips

    If a stud bolt is deformed or its threads are damaged, replace it.


    1. Remove the stud bolts from the cylinder head sub-assembly.
