DIFFERENTIAL SYSTEM GENERAL


  1. OUTLINE


    1. An SD20C type front differential is used on the 4WD models.

    2. A front differential with an Automatic Disconnecting Differential (A.D.D.) shift actuator is used on the models with A.D.D. shift actuator.

    3. A BD20D type rear differential is used.

    4. To suppress wheel spin, a rear differential with Limited Slip Differential (LSD) is used to achieve a high level of traction on the rough and slippery roads on the models with LSD.

    5. A rear differential lock actuator is used on the models with rear differential lock system. In the unlikely event that one of the rear wheels loses grip on a surface on which it is difficult to transmit drive torque (such as sand), the rear differential lock can connect the left and right rear wheels, thus ensuring the drive torque of the other wheel and assisting in freeing the vehicle in emergency situations.

    6. The rear differential lock ECU operates the differential lock shift actuator. This causes the rear differential lock system to switch the rear differential between free and lock in accordance with the operation of the rear differential lock switch.
