POWER WINDOW CONTROL SYSTEM

The power window control system has the following functions:

Function	Outline
Manual Up-and-down	This function causes the window to open or close while the power window regulator master switch assembly or power window regulator switch assembly is being pulled halfway up or pushed halfway down. The window stops as soon as the switch is released.1 This function causes the window to open or close while the power window regulator master switch assembly is being pulled up or pushed halfway down. The window stops as soon as the switch is released.2 This function causes the window to open or close while the power window regulator master switch assembly or power window regulator switch assembly is being pulled up or pushed down. The window stops as soon as the switch is released.*3
Driver Door One-touch Auto Down *4	The one-touch auto down function enables the driver door window to be fully opened at a touch of the power window regulator master switch assembly.
Driver Door One-touch Auto Up-and-down *5	The one-touch auto up-and-down function enables the driver door window to be fully opened or closed at a touch of the power window regulator master switch assembly.
All Door One-touch Auto Up-and-down*6	The one-touch auto up-and-down function enables the window to be fully opened or closed at a touch of the power window regulator master switch assembly or power window regulator switch assembly.
Jam Protection*1	The jam protection function automatically stops the power window and moves it downward if a foreign object gets jammed in the window during one-touch auto-up operation or manual power up operation.
Remote Control	Open/close control can be performed for windows other than the driver door window by operating the power window regulator master switch assembly.
Catch Protection*1	The catch protection function automatically stops the power window if a foreign object gets caught in the window during a down operation.
Soft Stop*1	During an up or down operation of the power window, the power window ECU stops the current to the power window motor just before the door glass is fully closed or opened.
Window Lock	The operation of the power window regulator switch assemblies other than the driver's can be prohibited by turning the window lock switch on.
Key Off Operation*1	This function makes it possible to operate the power windows for approximately 43 seconds after the ignition switch is turned off, if neither front door is opened. If the window lock switch is off, the windows can be operated using the power window regulator switch assembly or any of the rear power window regulator switch assemblies.*7 If the window lock switch is on, only the power window regulator master switch assembly can be used to operate the windows.

Tech Tips

The power window ECU built into the power window regulator motor assembly stores the initial position of its door window. The initial position is not cleared even if the battery terminals, fuses or the power window regulator motor assembly connectors are disconnected. However, after removing or reinstalling window components, or replacing the power window regulator switch assembly or power window regulator motor assembly, the stored initial position data must be cleared and/or initialization must be performed. For details, refer to the Repair Manual.

Jam Protection Function (Door with One-touch Auto Up-and-down Function only)

A jam protection function automatically stops the power window and moves it downward if a foreign object gets jammed in the door window during an up operation.
In the case of manual up operation using the power window regulator switch assembly, the power window is moved downward by approximately 30 mm (1.2 in.) or for approximately 5 seconds. In the case of up operation except for manual up operation using the power window regulator switch assembly, the power window is moved downward by approximately 145 mm (5.7 in.) or for approximately 5 seconds.

The power window ECU determines if a foreign object gets jammed according to changes in the output signal from the pulse sensor (Hall IC). Both of the following 2 judgment methods are used:

Catch Protection Function (Door with One-touch Auto Up-and-down Function only)

The catch protection function automatically stops the power window if a foreign object gets caught in the window during a down operation.
The power window ECU determines if a foreign object gets caught according to changes in the output signal from the pulse sensor (Hall IC). The judgment method is as follows:

Soft Stop Function (Door with One-touch Auto Up-and-down Function only)

During an up or down operation of the power window, the soft stop function stops the current to the power window motor just before the door glass is fully closed or opened. This reduces the load on the door glass outer weatherstrip.
Just before the door glass is fully closed or opened, the power window ECU determines if the door glass stop position is detected according to changes in the output signal from the pulse sensor (Hall IC). The judgment method is as follows:
