REAR BRAKE REMOVAL

CAUTION / NOTICE / HINT

PROCEDURE

1. REMOVE REAR WHEEL

2. REAR BRAKE PAD REPLACEMENT MODE

   Click here

3. DRAIN BRAKE FLUID

   Note

   Wash off brake fluid immediately if it comes in contact with any painted surface.

4. DISCONNECT REAR FLEXIBLE HOSE LH

   

   
   

   1. Remove the union bolt and gasket.

   2. Disconnect the rear flexible hose LH from the rear disc brake cylinder assembly LH.

5. REMOVE PARKING BRAKE ACTUATOR ASSEMBLY LH

   
   

   1. 

      Disconnect the connector from the parking brake actuator assembly LH.

      Note

      
      

      • Remove any dirt or water from around the connector.

      • Do not allow dirt or water inside the connector.

   2. 

      Using a 5 mm hexagon socket wrench, remove the 2 bolts and parking brake actuator assembly LH.

   3. Remove the O-ring from the rear disc brake cylinder assembly LH.

6. REMOVE REAR DISC BRAKE CYLINDER ASSEMBLY LH

   
   
   1. 

      *a	Hold
      *b	Turn

      Hold the rear disc brake cylinder slide pins and remove the 2 bolts and rear disc brake cylinder assembly LH.

7. REMOVE REAR DISC BRAKE PAD KIT

   
   

   1. Remove the 2 rear disc brake pads from the rear disc brake cylinder mounting LH.

   2. Using a screwdriver, remove the pad wear indicator plates from the rear disc brake pads.

8. REMOVE REAR ANTI-SQUEAL SHIM KIT

   
   

   1. Remove the rear No. 1 disc brake anti-squeal shim, rear No. 2 disc brake anti-squeal shim and rear disc brake anti-squeal shim from the rear disc brake pad.

9. REMOVE REAR DISC BRAKE PAD SUPPORT PLATE

   
   
   1. 

      *1	Rear No. 1 Disc Brake Pad Support Plate
      *2	Rear No. 2 Disc Brake Pad Support Plate

      Remove the 2 rear No. 1 disc brake pad support plates and 2 rear No. 2 disc brake pad support plates from the disc brake cylinder mounting LH.

10. REMOVE DISC BRAKE CYLINDER MOUNTING LH

    
    

    1. 

       Remove the 2 bolts and disc brake cylinder mounting LH from the rear axle.

11. REMOVE REAR DISC BRAKE CYLINDER SLIDE PIN

    
    
    1. 

       *1	Rear Disc Brake Cylinder Slide Pin
       *2	Rear Disc Brake Rear Cylinder Slide Pin

       Remove the rear disc brake cylinder slide pin from the disc brake cylinder mounting LH.

12. REMOVE REAR DISC BRAKE REAR CYLINDER SLIDE PIN

    
    

    1. Remove the rear disc brake rear cylinder slide pin from the disc brake cylinder mounting LH.

13. REMOVE REAR DISC BRAKE CYLINDER SLIDE BUSH

    
    
    1. 

       *a	Protective tape

       Using a screwdriver with its tip wrapped with protective tape, remove the rear disc brake cylinder slide bush from the rear disc brake rear cylinder slide pin.

       Tech Tips

       Tape the screwdriver tip before use.

       Note

       Do not damage the rear disc brake rear cylinder slide pin.

14. REMOVE REAR DISC BRAKE BUSH DUST BOOT

    
    

    1. 

       Remove the 2 rear disc brake bush dust boots from the disc brake cylinder mounting LH.

15. REMOVE REAR DISC

    
    
    1. 

       *a

       Matchmark

       Put matchmarks on the disc and axle hub.

    2. Remove the rear disc.
