  1. FUNCTION OF MAIN COMPONENTS

    Component Function
    Radio and Display Receiver Assembly
    • Receives operation signals from the panel switches and touch-sensitive display panel, which allows flick, drag or pinch in/pinch out operation, and data from various components positioned in different parts of the vehicle and sends them to the navigation ECU.

    • Processes navigation information and the operation status from the navigation ECU and displays them on the multi-display.

    • Receives audio signals such as voice guidance from the navigation ECU and sends them to the speakers.*1

    • Receives audio signals such as voice guidance from the navigation ECU and sends them to the stereo component amplifier assembly.*2

    • Sends a startup signal to the navigation ECU when the audio system started.

    • Sends microphone voice signals sent from the telematics transceiver (data communication module) to the navigation ECU.*3

    • Sends microphone voice signals to the navigation ECU.*4

    • Sends an R shift position signal to the navigation ECU.

    • Is equipped with a 2.4 GHz frequency band wireless LAN and can communicate with a wireless clients via Wi-Fi.*5

    Major Components of Radio and Display Receiver Assembly Multi-display Panel
    • Displays a map screen or an operation screen based on image signals from the navigation ECU.

    • Sends operation signals input via the capacitive display panel to the navigation ECU.

    Navigation ECU
    • Houses a navigation computer, gyro sensor, GPS receiver and storage device, and processes operation signals or vehicle status signals from the radio and display receiver assembly, controlling the navigation system.

    • Sends image and audio signals, such as navigation information, and the operation status to the radio and display receiver assembly.

    Major Components of Navigation ECU Navigation Computer
    • Corrects the vehicle position based on location information calculated from GPS information, vehicle speed signals, information from the built-in sensors and the shift status.

    • Applies the mark of the calculated vehicle position to the map database and sends the information and operation status to the radio and display receiver assembly.

    • Sends audio signals such as voice guidance provided in accordance with the vehicle position, to the radio and display receiver assembly.

    • Sends voice guidance audio signals to the radio and display assembly.

    • Sends navigation information such as directions and route guidance, etc. to the combination meter assembly*6 and meter mirror sub-assembly*7 via the radio and display assembly.

    Gyro Sensor Detects the vehicle's vertical axis rotation speed (yaw rate and rotation movement) and sends it to the navigation computer.
    GPS Receiver Demodulates GPS information received by the navigation antenna assembly, calculates the vehicle position and sends the position signal to the navigation computer.
    Storage Device Contains map data and the navigation system control program, etc.

    Receives GPS signals from satellites in orbit around the Earth, at an altitude of approximately 20,200 km (12,600 miles), and sends them to the navigation ECU.

    Spiral Cable Sub-assembly Sends operation signals from the steering pad switch assembly to the radio and display receiver assembly.
    Roof Console Box Sub-assembly Houses the manual (SOS) switch*3 and telephone microphone assembly.
    Telephone Microphone Assembly
    • Receives the user's voice through the microphone module.

    • Recognizes speech during voice recognition system operation and sends the audio signal to the telematics transceiver (data communication module)*3 or radio and display receiver assembly*4.*9

    Cooler Control Switch Assembly*10 Sends operation signals from switches such as the channel up/down switch, tune up/down switch, volume up/down switch, power switch and mode switch operation to the radio and display receiver assembly.
    No. 1 Stereo Jack Adapter Assembly
    • Sends audio signals to the radio and display receiver assembly when an auxiliary device is connected.

    • Communicates with the radio and display receiver assembly via a USB communication line when a USB memory device, portable audio player (USB type) or Apple product is connected.

    Stereo Component Amplifier Assembly*2 Amplifies audio signals sent from the radio and display receiver assembly and sends them to the speakers.
    Combination Meter Assembly
    • Sends vehicle speed signals to the radio and display receiver assembly, telematics transceiver (data communication module)*3, navigation ECU and stereo component amplifier assembly*2.

    • Displays navigation information from the navigation ECU, such as directions and route guidance, etc., on the multi-information display via the radio and display assembly.*6

    Meter Mirror Sub-assembly*7 Displays navigation information from the navigation ECU, such as directions and route guidance, etc., on the headup display via the radio and display assembly.
    Telematics Transceiver (Data Communication Module)*3
    • Sends a part of audio signals sent from the radio and display receiver assembly to the front No. 2 speaker assembly RH.

    • Sends microphone voice signals sent from the telephone microphone assembly to the radio and display receiver assembly.

    1. Navigation Screen


      1. The navigation computer calculates the present position and direction of travel, then determines a route and calculates the driving distance based on the following information sources:


        • Map database

        • Global Positioning System (GPS) satellites

        • Built-in gyro sensor

        • Vehicle speed signal

        • Reverse signal

        • Parking brake signal

        • Radio Data System Traffic Message Channel (RDS-TMC) signal (Models for Oceania and Russia and destination packages for Kazakhstan, Ukraine and Caucasus)

      2. The functions of the navigation screen are listed below.

        • Displays some areas of major cities with a 3-dimensional (2D and 3D) city map when the map scale is set to 50 m or less.

        • Always displayed in Heading Up mode.

        Micro City Map*3 Displays some areas of major cities with a 2D city map when the map scale is set to 50 m or less.
        3D Suburb Model Map*3 When displaying a 3-dimensional (3D) map and the map scale is set to 100 m or less, a 3D suburb model map can be displayed for some areas of major cities.
        3D City Model Map*4*5*6
        • Displays some areas of major cities with a 3-dimensional (3D) city model map when the map scale is set to 100 m or less.

        • Always displayed in Heading Up mode.

        Dual Map Screen Splits the map in two, and adjusts the scale and orientation of each screen independently.
        Compass Mode Screen Displays the direction of travel and detailed data of the present location.
        Current Position Display Function Displays the current position based on the GPS signals being received.
        Point of Interest Display Displays selected types of points of interest as marks on the map.
        Nearby POI List Display*3*4*5*6 Displays the list of POIs which are located within 20 miles (32 km) from vehicles current position.
        Map Scroll The map screen can be scrolled by touching, dragging or flicking it.

        Changes the map scale using any of the following methods:*1*2


        • Scale screen and choose 1 of 16 steps. Also, any desired map scale can be selected by touching the scale indicator.

        • Pinch in/out: Pinch outward on the touchpad to zoom in and pinch inward to zoom out.

        Street Name Indication on Scrolled Map Displays the street name and city name even when the map screen is being scrolled.
        Speed Limit Display Displays a speed limit icon on the map screen when driving on a major road.

        Point of Interest Search A destination can be set by selecting a POI from the search result list after defining a POI category and previous search word or the online search list of the connected service.*1*2

        • The name of a POI can be entered and then searched for from suburb, category or use web.

        • A POI category can be selected and a point of interest searched for near the present location, along the current route, near the suburb center or near the destination.

        • The phone number of a point of interest can be entered to search for it.

        • The name of a POI can be entered and then searched for from city or category.

        Destination Search Phonebook Search*1*2 A destination can be set by selecting an address from the contact list of a Bluetooth connected phone.
        Coordinate Search A destination can be input by entering its coordinates.
        Emergency Search*3*4*5*6 Performs a specific search for police stations, hospitals, Toyota dealers and fire stations.
        Map Search A destination can be set by using the cursor on the map screen.
        Voice-recognition Search*1*2*3 A destination can be set by voice command input.
        Smartphone Collaboration Search*3*4*5*6 A location that is searched for on a smartphone that is connected to the radio and display receiver assembly via Bluetooth, can be set as a destination.

        • By registering home and favorite destinations (up to 2 locations) in advance, when turning the ignition switch is turned to ACC or ON, the destination list together with the required time based on route search result is displayed.

        • Starts route guidance when a destination is selected from the list.

        Toyota Online Search*1*2 A destination can be set by searching for new establishments, which are not stored in the data of the in-vehicle device, on the internet using Toyota online services.
        Toyota Link Apps Search*3 A point searched for using Toyota Link apps can be set as a destination.
        Route Search Multiple Destination Setting Sets multiple destinations. Can also rearrange the sequence of destinations.
        Multiple Route Search Searches for multiple routes.
        Search Condition Designation Enables a search to be performed using fastest route, shortest distance to the set destination and fuel-efficient route search conditions. The results are displayed with the distance and expected arrival time of each of the 3 routes.*1*2

        Adaptive Route Search*3*4*5*6 When a route other than the route guidance is traveled frequently, the navigation system learns that route and displays it as an adaptive route in the route search results.
        Guidance Voice Guidance Provides voice guidance about the distance and the direction of travel to a destination point based on road conditions and vehicle speed.
        Next Turn Guidance Provides guidance about the distance to the next turn and indicates the direction of the turn using an arrow.
        Turn List Display Displays a turn list on the right side of the 2-screen display.

        Lane Information Guidance*1*2 Provides lane information and indicates the lane to be driven in when the vehicle is on a multiple lane road.

        Intersection Zoom-in Display Zooms in the map display when approaching an intersection.
        Signposts Display Displays lane information similar to overhead road traffic signs on the top of the map screen.
        Highway Mode Display*1*2 Displays the distance to the next junction and exit, or POIs in the vicinity of the highway exit.

        Driver Support Information*3 When the vehicle is approaching a specific zone such as a school zone, railway crossing, high accident zone, speed camera, etc., provides the driver with an announcement by chime, voice warning or warning icon according to the distance to the target.

        Traffic Incidents* By receiving the RDS-TMC service, a list of the current traffic incidents is displayed along with information on an incident's distance and position relative to the vehicle.
