CAUTION / NOTICE / HINT
When replacing the ECM and/or injector assembly, the ECM needs registration and initialization.
After replacing the fuel air fuel ratio sensor, the ECM needs initialization.
When the ECM must be replaced, before replacing the ECM, perform the "Learning Values Save" function using the GTS. Then after installing the new ECM, perform all of the initialization/registrations for the "Learning Values Write" function by following the instructions shown on the GTS display.
Read freeze frame data using the GTS. Freeze frame data records the engine condition when malfunctions are detected. When troubleshooting, freeze frame data can help determine if the vehicle was moving or stationary, if the engine was warmed up or not, and other data from the time the malfunction occurred.
Air fuel ratio sensors functional check
Refer to DTC P013A.
PROCEDURE
CHECK ANY OTHER DTCS OUTPUT (IN ADDITION TO DTC P2271)
Connect the GTS to the DLC3.
Turn the ignition switch to ON and turn the GTS on.
Enter the following menus: Powertrain / Engine and ECT / Trouble Codes.
Powertrain > Engine and ECT > Trouble Codes
Read the DTCs.

B
Tip:If any DTCs other than P2271 are output, troubleshoot those DTCs first.
In particular, if a DTC related to the fuel injection system, EGR system or air fuel ratio heater system is detected, perform diagnosis starting with that DTC.
PERFORM ACTIVE TEST USING GTS (FUEL BALANCING COMPENSATION (FBC))
Connect the GTS to the DLC3.
Turn the ignition switch to ON and turn the GTS on.
Start the engine.
Enter the following menus: Powertrain / Engine and ECT / Active Test / Fuel Balancing Compensation (FBC) / Data List / Cylinder 1 Quantity Compensation to Cylinder4 Quantity Compensation.
Powertrain > Engine and ECT > Active Test

Cylinder 4 Quantity Compensation
OK
-5.0 to 4.0 mg/stk
Tip:If a malfunction is found during this inspection, the fuel injector may be stuck open.
If a malfunction is not found in the fuel injector, the probable cause may be a loss of compression pressure, the formation of soot deposits in the intake system or an excessively high or low injection volume.
