Tech Tips
Use the same procedures for the RH side and LH side.
The procedures listed below are for the LH side.
REMOVE FRONT WHEEL
REMOVE FRONT SPEED SENSOR LH
Remove the bolt and disconnect the speed sensor.
Remove the 3 bolts and disconnect the 3 clamps.
REMOVE FRONT DISC BRAKE CYLINDER ASSEMBLY LH
Remove the union bolt and disconnect the brake hose from the brake cylinder.
Remove the 2 bolts and brake cylinder.
REMOVE FRONT DISC
DISCONNECT TIE ROD END SUB-ASSEMBLY
Remove the cotter pin and nut.
Using SST, disconnect the tie rod end from the steering knuckle.
DISCONNECT FRONT SUSPENSION LOWER ARM ASSEMBLY WITH ATTACHMENT LH
Remove the 2 bolts and disconnect the suspension arm from the steering knuckle.
DISCONNECT FRONT SUSPENSION UPPER ARM ASSEMBLY LH
Remove the clip and nut.
Using SST, disconnect the steering knuckle from the suspension upper arm.
REMOVE FRONT AXLE HUB ASSEMBLY
REMOVE KNUCKLE GREASE RETAINER CAP
Using a screwdriver and hammer, tap out the knuckle grease retainer cap.
REMOVE FRONT AXLE HUB NUT AND ABS SPEED SENSOR ROTOR OR SPACER
Using a chisel and hammer, loosen the staked part of the lock nut.
Remove the lock nut.
w/ ABS:
Remove the ABS speed sensor rotor.
Note
Take care not to scratch the serration of the speed sensor rotor.
w/o ABS:
Remove the spacer.
REMOVE STEERING KNUCKLE
Remove the 3 bolts, and shift the dust cover towards the hub side (outside).
Using SST, remove the steering knuckle.
Remove the dust cover from the axle hub.
Note
Take care not to scratch the serration of the speed sensor rotor.
REMOVE FRONT AXLE HUB OIL SEAL
Using a screwdriver, pry out the oil seal from the steering knuckle.
REMOVE FRONT AXLE HUB INNER BEARING
Using snap ring pliers, remove the snap ring.
Using SST and a press, press out the bearing from the steering knuckle.
