BODY STRUCTURE

  1. OUTLINE

    1. Light Weight and Highly Rigid Body

      1. Using high-strength sheet steel, ultra high-strength sheet steel, and extensive aluminum both reduces weight and ensures rigidity together with an optimized frame joint structure and optimal positioning of reinforcement members.

    2. Safety Features

      1. The body has a structure that can distribute energy to many members to increase absorption of the collision energy and a high strength framework that can control the deformation of the cabin and help secure sufficient survival space.

    3. Rust-Resistant Body

      1. Rust-resistance performance is enhanced by extensive use of anti-corrosion sheet steel, as well as by anti-corrosion treatments that include the application of anti-rust wax, sealer and anti-chipping paint to easily corroded parts such as the hood and rocker panels.

    4. Low Vibration and Low Noise Body

      1. By connecting braces and reinforcements to the body panels, panel vibration has been reduced. Changes in the structure of body panels also reduces panel vibration. A structure that reduces body panel frame movement ensures low noise levels.

      2. Effective application of vibration damping and noise suppression materials reduces engine, wind and road noise.

    5. Aerodynamics

      1. Leveling off the surface where the A-pillar meets the windshield and smoothing the shape around the doors and rocker effectively reduce flow separation.

      2. Various types of airflow routing parts that control airflow are provided under the floor, and an under cover is provided to make the under body flat in order to ensure excellent aerodynamic performance.

    6. Parts with Low Repair Cost

      1. Front end and rear end parts are connected by bolts, ensuring ease of repair.

      2. The strong rear under body frame and its connection rigidity ensure low repair costs after low-speed collisions.

  2. MAIN FEATURES

    1. Exterior Design

      1. An evolution of its unique shape as a spacious Hybrid vehicle and enhancing an active and advanced feel gives it a one and only identity.

      2. Front View

        1. The combination of the shape that starts from the enhanced 3-dimensional volume around the front brand symbol mark that goes towards the headlamps and wraps around to the rear with the under priority*1 expressed even more dynamically. These express a keen look*2 with an energetic and advanced feel.

        2. The lower grille has a bold trapezoidal shape emphasizing good stance, and the inner area is painted in glossy dark metallic paint, expressing a more dynamic under priority*1. Active and high quality feel has been enhanced.

        3. The bumper corner is a 3-dimensional shape that continues from the headlamps to the accessory lamps. This gives it a dynamic, advanced feel which is linked to the lower grille and enhances its good stance.

          Tech Tips

*1: A front design with an assertive lower grille design, based on technical theories to ensure aerodynamic, cooling, and pedestrian protection performance.

*2: A Toyota-original front expression that provides a bright, intelligent, and dynamic impression. It is expressed by a combination of the Toyota mark enhanced by a 3-dimensional concave movement of the entire hood and the dynamic Toyota theme of "Under Priority".

      3. Rear View

        1. As with the front design, a rear license garnish with an enhanced 3-dimensional feel which accentuates the rear brand symbol mark area is adopted, giving it a stronger personal impression.
