DIFFERENTIAL CASE DISASSEMBLY

PROCEDURE

  1. REMOVE SPEEDOMETER DRIVE GEAR

    1. C305395

      Using a chisel and hammer, disengage the 2 claws and remove the speedometer drive gear from the front differential case assembly with ring gear.

      Note:

      Be careful not to damage the front differential case assembly with ring gear.

  2. REMOVE FRONT DIFFERENTIAL CASE FRONT TAPERED ROLLER BEARING

    1. C306155N01

      Using SST, remove the front differential case front tapered roller bearing from the front differential case assembly with ring gear.

      Note:

      • Do not excessively tighten SST.

      • Insert the claws of SST at the indented part of the front differential case front tapered roller bearing.

  3. REMOVE FRONT DIFFERENTIAL CASE REAR TAPERED ROLLER BEARING

    1. Hold the front differential case assembly with ring gear in a vise between aluminum plates.

      Note:

      Do not overtighten the vise.

      Using SST, remove the front differential case rear tapered roller bearing from the front differential case assembly with ring gear.

      Note:

      • Do not excessively tighten SST.

      • Insert the claws of SST at the indented part of the front differential case rear tapered roller bearing.

  4. REMOVE FRONT DIFFERENTIAL CASE SNAP RING

    1. C305383

      Using pliers, remove the front differential case snap ring from the front differential case assembly with ring gear.

  5. REMOVE FRONT NO. 1 DIFFERENTIAL PINION SHAFT

    1. Remove the front No. 1 differential pinion shaft from the front differential case assembly with ring gear.

  6. REMOVE FRONT DIFFERENTIAL GEAR SET

      Front Differential Side Gear Seal

      Front Differential Side Gear

      Front Differential Pinion Thrust Washer

      *4

      Front Differential Pinion Gear

      *5

      Front Differential Case Assembly with Ring Gear

      Remove the 2 front differential pinion gears, 2 front differential pinion thrust washers, 2 front differential side gears and front differential side gear seal from the front differential case assembly with ring gear.
