HYBRID BATTERY SYSTEM

  1. CONSTRUCTION

    1. The hybrid battery junction block assembly consists of the System Main Relays (SMRs), precharge resistor and battery current sensor.

    2. System Main Relay (SMRs)

      1. The SMRs are relays that connect and disconnect the HV battery and power cable (frame wire) in accordance with the signal from the hybrid vehicle control ECU assembly. 3 relays are provided; SMRB for the battery positive (+) side, SMRG for the battery negative (-) side, and SMRP for pre-charging.

    3. Battery Current Sensor

      1. A battery current sensor, which is built into the hybrid battery junction block assembly, is used to detect the HV battery charging and discharging amperage.

      2. The battery current sensor sends voltage, which varies in proportion to current, to terminal IB of the battery voltage sensor. If the output voltage of the battery current sensor is below 2.5 V, the HV battery is being discharged. If it is 2.5 V or more, the HV battery is being charged.

      3. The hybrid vehicle control ECU assembly optimally controls the hybrid system so that the SOC of the HV battery can always be within a specified range according to the amperage information that is received via the battery voltage sensor.
