CURTAIN SHIELD AIRBAG ASSEMBLY INSTALLATION

Tech Tips


  • Use the same procedure for RHD and LHD vehicles.

  • The procedure listed below is for LHD vehicles.

  • Use the same procedure for the RH and LH sides.

  • The procedure listed below is for the LH side.

PROCEDURE


  1. INSTALL CURTAIN SHIELD AIRBAG ASSEMBLY LH


    1. Check that the engine switch is turned off.

    2. Check that the cable is disconnected from the negative (-) battery terminal.

      CAUTION:


      • Do not begin this procedure within 90 seconds after disconnecting the cable from the negative (-) battery terminal.

      • If the airbag deploys for any reason, it may cause a serious accident.

    3. When reusing the curtain shield airbag assembly LH:

      Install a new clip B to the curtain shield airbag assembly LH.

    4. Attach the clip B and hook to set the curtain shield airbag assembly LH inflator.

    5. Temporarily install the curtain shield airbag assembly LH inflator with new 2 bolts.

    6. Temporarily install the deployment portion of the curtain shield airbag assembly LH with new 4 bolts.

    7. Check that there is no twisting in the deployment portion of the curtain shield airbag assembly LH.

    8. Attach the claw.

    9. Attach the claw to install a new clip A.

      Note

      Do not push the pin and lock the clip at this time.

      Tech Tips

      Use the same procedure for the opposite side.

    10. Tighten the 6 bolts.

      Torque:
      10.7 N*m  { 109 kgf*cm, 8 ft.*lbf }

    11. Push the pin to lock the clip A.

      Use the same procedure for the opposite side.

      Connect the airbag connector and push the lock button to lock.

      Note


      • When connecting any airbag connector, take care not to damage the airbag wire harness.

      • Make sure the lock button is securely locked.

  2. INSTALL ROOF HEADLINING ASSEMBLY

  3. CONNECT CABLE TO NEGATIVE BATTERY TERMINAL

    When disconnecting the cable, some systems need to be initialized after the cable is reconnected.

  4. INSTALL LUGGAGE COMPARTMENT MAT SUB-ASSEMBLY

  5. PERFORM DIAGNOSTIC SYSTEM CHECK
