OUTLINE
Lightweight and Highly Rigid Body
High-strength steel and ultra high-strength steel are used in order to achieve excellent body rigidity and a lightweight body.
Safety Features
The impact absorbing structure minimizes cabin deformation by effectively helping to absorb the impact energy in the event of a front, side or rear collision. This provides high performance occupant protection.
Rust-resistant Body
Rust-resistant performance is enhanced by the extensive use of anti-corrosion sheet steel, as well as by an anti-corrosion treatment that includes the application of anti-rust wax, sealer and anti-chipping paint to the easily corroded parts such as the hood and fender.
Low Vibration and Low Noise Body
Effective application of vibration damping and noise suppressant materials reduces engine, wind and road noise.
Aerodynamics
Various types of airflow routing parts that control airflow are provided under the floor, and an undercover is provided to make the under-floor area flat in order to ensure excellent aerodynamic performance.
MAIN FEATURES
Exterior Design
Front View
The design takes the vehicle in dynamic and strong directions, strengthening its "FUN" and "LIVELY" image.
The front view expresses a strong "Keen Look"*2 suitable for an SUV by using a structure that starts from the center Toyota mark and flows from the thin upper grille to the head light assemblies, as well as an "Under Priority"*1 design that provides an even more dynamic expression. Also, the headlights express a sense of innovation with a thin and long shape that connects from the upper grille. Additionally, models with LED headlights pursue freshness through daytime running lights that produce crystal lines of illumination. (A in the illustration)
Tech Tips
*1: A Toyota-original front expression that provides a bright, intelligent and dynamic impression. It is express by a combination of the Toyota mark enhanced 3-dimensionally and the dynamic Toyota theme of "Under Priority".
*2: A front design with an assertive lower grille design, based on technical theories to ensure aerodynamic, cooling, and pedestrian protection performance.
Starting from the tough trapezoid shape, a wide and strong stance is expressed for the under grille through a three-dimensional structure that is unified at the corners of the bumper. Also, depending on the grade, under guard ornamentation is provided to the lower portion of the bumper, expressing agility and a sense of strength suitable for an SUV. (B in the illustration)

Rear View
The lower portion of the back door panel has been provided with a back door under garnish and passes along a line formed from the top of the bumper to dispel the plain impression. A sense of agility is also emphasized by using a high, horizontal theme suitable for an SUV. (A in the illustration)
A colored area has been provided for the rear bumper to improve the quality feel. Also, rear under guard ornamentation that matches the style used on the front bumper is provided to express agility and a sense of strength suitable for an SUV. (B in the illustration)
The three-dimensional shape of the rear combination lights flow from the shoulders and appear to connect with the red inner lenses. A structure that passes along a horizontal axis is used to produce a dynamic appearance. Also, vehicles equipped with LED taillights produce distinctive illumination that pursues a sense of innovation. (C in the illustration)

Side View
For the side view, the axial line of the front nose has been raised to provide a dynamic appearance and further enhance the sense of agility. (A in the illustration)
The rocker molding has a simple three-dimensional bulge leaving a bold impression. (B in the illustration)
