OIL PUMP INSPECTION

PROCEDURE

  1. INSPECT OIL PUMP ASSEMBLY CLEARANCE

    1. B006GZU

Push the front oil pump driven gear to one side of the front oil pump body.

    2. Using a feeler gauge, measure the clearance between the front oil pump driven gear and front oil pump body.

      Standard Clearance
      0.135 to 0.175 mm (0.00532 to 0.00689 in.)

If the clearance is not as specified, replace the front oil pump drive gear, front oil pump driven gear and front oil pump body.

    3. B006GFM

Using a feeler gauge, measure the clearance between the front oil pump driven gear teeth and front oil pump drive gear teeth.

      Standard Tip Clearance
      0.015 to 0.115 mm (0.000591 to 0.00452 in.)

If the tip clearance is not as specified, replace the front oil pump drive gear, front oil pump driven gear and front oil pump body.

    4. B006F8V

Using a straightedge and feeler gauge, measure the side clearance of both gears.

      Standard Side Clearance
      0.017 to 0.030 mm (0.000670 to 0.00118 in.)

If the side clearance is not as specified, replace the front oil pump drive gear, front oil pump driven gear and front oil pump body.

      Tech Tips

There are 2 front oil pump drive gears and front oil pump driven gears of different thicknesses.

Front Oil Pump Drive Gear Thickness
      Part No. Mark Thickness
      35321-11040 A 19.475 to 19.480 mm (0.7668 to 0.7669 in.)
      35321-11050 B 19.481 to 19.486 mm (0.7670 to 0.7671 in.)
Front Oil Pump Driven Gear Thickness
      Part No. Mark Thickness
      35322-11040 A 19.475 to 19.480 mm (0.7668 to 0.7669 in.)
      35322-11050 B 19.481 to 19.486 mm (0.7670 to 0.7671 in.)
  2. INSPECT FRONT OIL PUMP DRIVE GEAR ROTATION

    1. B006GIBC01
      B006DHE Rotates Smoothly

Install the oil pump drive shaft sub-assembly to the front oil pump assembly.

    2. Check that the front oil pump drive gear rotates smoothly.

    3. Remove the oil pump drive shaft sub-assembly from the front oil pump assembly.
