ENGINE UNIT REMOVAL

PROCEDURE

  1. REMOVE VACUUM SURGE TANK

    1. A234747

      Slide the 2 clips and disconnect the 2 hoses.

    2. Remove the 2 bolts and vacuum surge tank.

  2. REMOVE INTAKE MANIFOLD

      Remove the 2 bolts and disconnect the air tube from the cylinder head cover sub-assembly.

      Slide the 2 clamps and disconnect the 2 water by-pass hoses.

    3. A310725

      Disconnect the 2 clamps.

    4. Slide the clamp and disconnect the ventilation hose from the intake manifold.

    5. Remove the 4 bolts, 2 nuts and intake manifold and intake manifold stay.

    6. Remove the No. 1 intake manifold to head gasket from the intake manifold.

  3. DISCONNECT FUEL TUBE SUB-ASSEMBLY

  4. REMOVE FUEL DELIVERY PIPE SUB-ASSEMBLY

  5. REMOVE NO. 1 DELIVERY PIPE SPACER

    Click here

  6. REMOVE FUEL INJECTOR ASSEMBLY

    Click here

  7. REMOVE IGNITION COIL ASSEMBLY

      Engine Head Cover

      *2

      Spark Plug Tube

      *3

      Plug Cap

      Remove the 4 bolts and 4 ignition coil assemblies.

      Note:

      When removing each ignition coil assembly, do not damage the plug cap on the engine head cover opening or the upper edge of the spark plug tube.

  8. REMOVE ENGINE OIL LEVEL DIPSTICK GUIDE

    1. A234913

      Remove the engine oil level dipstick.

    2. Remove the bolt and engine oil level dipstick guide.

    3. Remove the O-ring from the engine oil level dipstick guide.

  9. REMOVE NO. 1 EXHAUST MANIFOLD HEAT INSULATOR

  10. REMOVE MANIFOLD STAY

  11. REMOVE EXHAUST MANIFOLD

  12. REMOVE VENTILATION HOSE

    1. A147585

      Slide the clip and remove the ventilation hose from the ventilation valve.

  13. DISCONNECT NO. 3 WATER BY-PASS HOSE

    1. A173362

      Slide the clip and disconnect the No. 3 water by-pass hose from the water inlet housing.

  14. REMOVE NO. 1 WATER BY-PASS PIPE

    1. A154918

      Remove the 2 bolts and No. 1 water by-pass pipe.

  15. DISCONNECT WATER BY-PASS HOSE

    1. A196588

      Slide the clip and disconnect the water by-pass hose from the cylinder head sub-assembly.

  16. DISCONNECT WATER INLET HOSE

    1. A173361

      Slide the 2 clamps and disconnect the water inlet hose.

  17. REMOVE WATER INLET
