REAR DRIVE SHAFT ASSEMBLY INSTALLATION

CAUTION / NOTICE / HINT

Tip:
  • Use the same procedure for the RH and LH sides.

  • The procedure listed below is for the LH side.

PROCEDURE

  1. INSTALL REAR DRIVE SHAFT ASSEMBLY LH

      Matchmark

      Align the matchmarks on the rear drive shaft assembly LH and rear axle hub and bearing assembly, and then insert the rear drive shaft assembly LH to the rear axle hub and bearing assembly.

      Note:
      • Do not damage the outboard joint boot.

      • Do not damage the rear speed sensor rotor.

      • Make sure that the speed sensor is free of foreign matter.

      • Do not drop the rear drive shaft assembly LH.

      Turn

      *c

      Hold

      Align the matchmarks on the rear drive shaft assembly LH and differential side gear shaft sub-assembly.

    3. Using a screwdriver or an equivalent, hold the differential side gear shaft sub-assembly as shown in the illustration.

      Note:
      • Do not damage the inboard joint boot.

      • Do not drop the rear drive shaft assembly LH.

    4. Install the rear drive shaft assembly LH with the 4 nuts and 4 washers.

  2. INSTALL REAR SUSPENSION ARM COVER LH (w/ Cover)

  3. INSTALL REAR SUSPENSION MEMBER BRACE LH

  4. INSTALL REAR AXLE SHAFT NUT LH

  5. STAKE REAR AXLE SHAFT NUT LH

  6. CONNECT REAR SPEED SENSOR LH

  7. INSTALL TAIL EXHAUST PIPE ASSEMBLY

  8. INSTALL REAR WHEEL

  9. INSPECT AND ADJUST REAR WHEEL ALIGNMENT

  10. INSPECT FOR EXHAUST GAS LEAK
