BRAKE BOOSTER(for RHD) REMOVAL

CAUTION / NOTICE / HINT

Note:

Make sure to release the vacuum from the brake booster before removing the master cylinder from the brake booster.

PROCEDURE

  1. PRECAUTION

    Note:

    After turning the ignition switch off, waiting time may be required before disconnecting the cable from the battery terminal. Therefore, make sure to read the disconnecting the cable from the battery terminal notice before proceeding with work (Click here).

  2. DISCONNECT CABLE FROM NEGATIVE BATTERY TERMINAL

    CAUTION:

    Wait at least 90 seconds after disconnecting the cable from the negative (-) battery terminal to disable the SRS system.

    Note:

    When disconnecting the cable, some systems need to be initialized after the cable is reconnected (Click here).

  3. REMOVE WINDSHIELD WIPER MOTOR AND LINK ASSEMBLY

  4. REMOVE COWL VENTILATOR HOUSING SUB-ASSEMBLY

      Disengage the 3 clips and remove the cowl ventilator housing sub-assembly.

  5. REMOVE COWL TOP PANEL OUTER SUB-ASSEMBLY

    1. C278594

      Remove the 13 bolts and cowl top panel outer sub-assembly.

  6. REMOVE COWL BODY MOUNTING REINFORCEMENT RH

    1. C170048

      Remove the 2 nuts and cowl body mounting reinforcement RH.

  7. DRAIN BRAKE FLUID

    Note:

    Wash off brake fluid immediately if it comes in contact with any painted surface.

  8. REMOVE LOWER NO. 1 INSTRUMENT PANEL AIRBAG ASSEMBLY (w/ Driver Side Knee Airbag)

  9. REMOVE LOWER INSTRUMENT PANEL FINISH PANEL (w/o Driver Side Knee Airbag)

  10. REMOVE BRAKE PEDAL RETURN SPRING

  11. REMOVE PUSH ROD PIN

  12. REMOVE BRAKE MASTER CYLINDER PUSH ROD CLEVIS

    1. Loosen the push rod clevis lock nut.

    2. Remove the push rod clevis.

  13. DISCONNECT VACUUM HOSE

    1. Slide the clip and disconnect the vacuum hose from the brake vacuum check valve assembly.

  14. DISCONNECT NO. 4 BRAKE TUBE CLAMP

    1. C361954

      Disconnect the No. 4 brake tube clamp from the body.

      Note:

      The clamp cannot be reused after it is disconnected from the body.

  15. REMOVE BRAKE MASTER CYLINDER SUB-ASSEMBLY

  16. REMOVE BRAKE BOOSTER ASSEMBLY

    1. C126454

      Remove the 4 nuts.

    2. Pull out the brake booster assembly with the gasket.

      Note:

      Do not damage the brake lines.

  17. REMOVE BRAKE BOOSTER GASKET

  18. REMOVE BRAKE VACUUM CHECK VALVE ASSEMBLY

    1. Remove the brake vacuum check valve assembly from the brake booster assembly.

  19. REMOVE CHECK VALVE GROMMET

    1. Remove the check valve grommet from the brake booster assembly.

  20. REMOVE VACUUM SENSOR ASSEMBLY (w/ Stop And Start System)

    1. Remove the vacuum sensor assembly from the brake booster assembly.

  21. REMOVE VACUUM SENSOR GROMMET (w/ Stop And Start System)

    1. Remove the vacuum sensor grommet from the brake booster assembly.
